  2. Great shave to get the week going. The OSP jumped onto the brush with ease after a minute loading. After my "paint-job", let me say this-Rembrandts'got nuthin' on me(oh, I just DID say that, lol). Clean&clear shave alll over. No damage. 2 passes. Y'know, earlier yesterday I saw a video by Don Youngner of Wet The Face, doing an OSP soap. He closed by saying "I had a great, great shave...I hope you do, too." I did, Don, I did :). The "New Spice"(my joking name for P&G's Old Spice sftershave)went on well. Had to be careful to avoid Niagra Falls, but I managed. As Outstanding As Gets

I decided to use this 100+ yr old straight to tackle my excessive stubble this morning.
Three error-free passes gave me a close and comfortable shave. There wasn't any feedback from the alum. Splashed on the matching aftershave and I am good to go. Take care.
  5. Great start to the work week Gary.

    Brush - 30DC 2019 Meetup with Badger/Boar

Second day with the setup and my only change is the brush. I chose my Badger/Boar knot set in a 2019 meetup handle made by @jtspartan. Beautiful brush and I love the hybrid knot. I need to get a few more of these at some point. The El Caballero lathered up easily and provided a great slick surface. My only negative was that I had loosened the blade after yesterday's shave and forgot about it until trying my first pass. Noticed the sound before the feel of the loose blade and quickly stopped and tightened everything down. No harm, no foul. Two passes and some touch ups and my day is about done! I've slept an hour in the last 24. It's about time to fix that problem. Have a great Monday!

  12. The Master's Soap Creations Vintage Spice is STILL sold out on Pasteur's. Also, I have my doubts on Strike Gold Shave's KENNEDY, but SGS added a cpuple, did they feel they had to replace KENNEDY with those to make roo m?

  13. it's helpful if you buy older or discontiued hard soaps and which ones to avoid based on ingredient lists.as we all have heard, many hard soaps had dud reformulations over the years that made them unusable as shave soaps..:eatdrink047:

  14. When I bought my Caswell-Massey soaps, I didn't look at the ingredients much, it was the HISTORY that got me hooked. Course I just use those for hand-washing. Overall, I do pay attention to ingredients, though.

  15. i haven't had a bad hard soap so far,but i check ingredient lists now to make sure i get the good reformulations, especially if i buy vintage soaps on ebay..example-modern williams..
  16. On the "ingredients" persuasion, Doc Ezlovan does a good job of describing why his bodywashes are better than others. I've had a few of those-may get another soon. Course "hard soaps"are a different persuasion.

  17. It's too bad companies feel like it's necessary to change formulations when what they have is working perfectly well.

  18. body washes are a different animal..per se.many more folks use them compared to those using shave soap..and on more sensitive parts of the body..;)
