Great shave on this Sunday morning. Especially so because I killed off the nasty hairs on the top right side of North Porcupine. Seems like I spent more time up there than for the rest of the shave itself. But let's go backward-a minute plus at the Loading Dock gave me enough soap for a solid paint job across the face and neck. Clean and clear everywhere. No wonder our 35th POTUS was such a fan of "Eight And Bob"(which this soap dupes). I am, too :). Nice finish from the A.S., of the same scent. This one was As Outstanding As It Gets.

Razor - Schick Type M Injector
    Blade - schickinjector.jpg (1)
    Soap - El Caballero
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Badger

Going back in time today to the razor I first shaved with. This isn't the actual razor, but it is the Schick Type M, which I purchased when I was first encouraged to start shaving. I grew up in a house with Gillette razors, mostly Super Speeds, but my Dad had started using the Techmatic. It was about the time that the Trac II was first introduced when I decided to buy my own razor. Off to the local grocery store (small town Kansas and many moons ago) and perused my choices. I discovered the Schick Injector Adjustable and decided I liked that best. I bought it, brought it home, and my dad had a small fit over me not buying a Gillette. He even said "you should have just bought the Trac II" . Well, I started shaving with my new Schick and liked it well enough. I stayed with it up until I got married at 19, when my wife then bought me an electric. Should have stayed with blades.

So, I found one a few years back in great condition except for the numbers on the adjustable dial. I've used it a few times since but today just seemed like a good day to break it back out. I still have some blades I bought when I got the razor so I'm all set. I dialed it up about halfway, lathered up the El Caballero with my WW brush and started the shave. I remember this razor being a bit on the harsh side the last time I used it but I'm convinced that was a technique error. Today's shave was as smooth as silk and one pass nearly got me to BBS. The injector style razors are a great tool and don't get enough love. I did a second pass to get a BBS result and used my alum stick to check for irritation. I had felt nothing but smooth during the shave, and the alum produced zero hits. Doesn't get any better than that.

Great way to start the week and I look forward to giving this setup a few more runs. Enjoy your Sunday!

Today's setup (same as last shave):

    IMG_20250206_212500.jpg

The weather here continues to vary between a high of -20C and a low of about -35C with a wind -- temperatures where a beard helps fend off facial windburn and frostbite. So I still have the full beard and moustache set.

Again, today was just a trim to get rid of the neckbeard part and clean up the middle of the cheeks to leave a crisply defined jaw outline.

For my second shave in February, I repeated the first shave's setup and went with some of my favourites: a brush with a beautiful cypress wood handle turned by Jason @jtspartan paired with an excellent badger knot, my pet modern injector which combines solid mass with a nearly foolproof plate of mid-grade aggressiveness, and a slick and protective Stirling mutton tallow (and lanolin) soap.

Since it worked well last time, I shaved in two stages: first the neck and then the more minor cleanup on the cheeks.

I did three passes on the neck - ATG, WTG and then diagonally XTG. That returned my neck area from scruffy neckbeard to near BBS.

I then did the cheeks to trim down and clean up the sparser uneven upper edges of my beard area. Two passes did that: XTG and then WTG.

No nicks, blood spots or razorburn and the alum was totally silent.

The splash was a good finish. The Scots Pine has a pleasant fir forest scent that goes well with the winter weather.

Hope everyone is keeping well and is heading into a great week.

    Good afternoon.

    Rockwell Model T v1 (6)
    Gillette 7 o'clock Permasharp DE Blade (4,5)
    Rockwell Synthetic Brush
    TSD Barbershoppe SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Beard Stubble: 2.25 days
    Dome Turf: 4 days

    20250216_144911.jpg

Three passes on the head and face for a comfortable, smooth shave. Did get a small nick on my left nape area, but the cold water took care of it. Did get some feedback from the alum all over my dome and neck. Splashed on the matching aftershave to finish. I am still trying to kill this soap, but it's stubborn. Lol. I guess that I have to use my boar brushes to move it along. Take care.
