Great start to the month John. How about Make It Your Way March? In other words, you're free to shave any way that suits you.

Yessss! Precccioussss! We likes it, we does! With the approval of my psychotic alter ego (borrowed from Gollum for the occasion), this will henceforth be "Make It My Way March" for me.

A Random Thought (I need to treat it kindly, because it's a long way from home): Wasn't it Frank Sinatra who sang "I Did It My Way"? I will have to see if I can find a copy to listen to as I shave this month...

Hmmm. Sandalwood Sunday with a high status Gillette razor. Looks like it was a wonderful setup, Gary! Btw, what are the Yaqi badger knots like?

Nice Sunday shave. Continued success with the shave soap(Sir Hare)and A.S. (Stephan Bay Rum). Clean, clear everywhere. 2 passes. The Stephan yBay Rum.A.. is great for this cold weather. Problems coming again on this computer....hang on.

thank you John .it was a fine shave.the AoS is slick stuff, the yaqi badgers are excellent imo.the red one here is a 2 band or best which is soft and has backbone,my block marble yaqi is a silvertip with excellent desity and backbone also.both of my simpson brushes are best badger,as are my mr.ee gold brush, and jr #242..one doesn't have to buy a $250 simpson silvertip to enjoy a good badger.brush..:):eatdrink047:

    March Madness

    Razor - Soviet era "Ideal"/Merkur 23c
    Blade - voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg astra-superior-platinum.jpg
    Soap - El Caballero/Arko
    Brush - Semogue 1305/Stirling synthetic

I'm a day late to the March Madness party but I made it. No shave on Saturday but I made up for it with a shave and a head shave today. I decided to work through some of my less traditional razors this month, and will probably mix and match some razor/blade combos.

Starting off, one of my Russians, the Soviet era "Ideal". This is a knockoff of the Gillette Super Adjustable. The Soviet adjustables are actually pretty good razors, but the blade gaps are quite a bit larger than the actual Gillettes. I chose a Voskhod to keep it all Russian. However, during the first pass I changed out to an Astra. The Voskie just wouldn't settle in. I noticed a bit of a "ripple" in the blade edge when I tightened it down and not sure if that was a blade problem or a razor issue. However, when I changed out to an Astra everything smoothed up. This particular Voskie came from the same tuck as the dud I had a while back, so I've tossed the rest of that tuck. Possible it was bad all the way through. With the Astra in I got a very nice two pass finish. Only minor touch ups needed and it was an all around good shave.

For the head shave, the Merkur 23c and Astra along with Arko provided a no frills and no problem chrome for the dome. Perfect.

Glad you like that theme John. Btw, I sang karaoke at the Senior Center near me and I cover Sinatra songs such as, "My Way".
