Every now and then a near wedge is just what I’m looking for. One of my first straights was a wedge and I could never get a good shave from it. So, I’m always surprised by the smooth shaves I get from a near wedge like I did today

Prep: Warm shower:/Cien Men Energize Shower Gel.

Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Wrights Coal Tar bar Soap.
Brush: Semogue 1470.
Face lather
Lather: HWF Lanolin Shaving Soap (No.2) with Tea Tree & Lavender.
Blade: Voskhod Teflon Coated. (D2)
Razor: Parker 24C.

Post:
Cold Water face rinse./Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's,/Alum Rub./Cold Water Rinse./Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With Care+Witch Hazel./Gummy Traditional Turkish Lavender Cologne./Cien Men Sensitive ASB.

Greetings,

A wonderful lather from the HWF Lanolin Shaving Soap (No.2) The Tea Tree & Lavender essential oils gives the soap a pleasant mild medicinal scent with a wonderful post shave feel from the lanolin making my mature rhino skin feel superb.

I count myself very fortunate that that my skin type doesn't have any adverse reaction from the lanolin & essential oils that are added to the HWF soaps.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Cien Men Sensitive ASB.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.

Here my Shave of the Day (16.03.2025)


Razor: Merkur Bakelite // Blade: Merkur Super // Soap: Calani Oriental Plum // Brush: Shavemac // Aftershave: Witch Hazel - 66:60 Skin Nourishing Oil

A good shave. The blade is not the sharpest but a forgiving blade. Soft and gentle. Pairs well with the razor. The legendary Calani was whipped up with the Shavemac Synthetic.

Lovely.

Two things that I haven’t used in a few years - my Goodfella DE and the Black Ice soap. I did a swap with a gentleman in the UK and he sent me a few soaps and this Goodfella. This razor is on the milder side of the spectrum - even more so than my Super Speed but it gives EXCELLENT performance especially with a great blade like an Astra Green. This Black Ice soap has been sitting around for so long - it’s a refill puck from one of Rod’s older formulations but it still has a lovely black liquorice scent, it lathers fabulously, it gives a STRONG menthol sensation, (ok, not as strong as the Glacial Obsidian but still plenty strong!) and it’s so gentle on my skin. The Gold Bond moisturizer is so soothing and it has lots of menthol in it. Last but not least the Fougere Santal aftershave which my wonderful wife gave me as a gift - this stuff smells gorgeous and it’s icy cold. Three passes gave me a dynamite BBS shave that was such a pleasure!

The De Vergulde Hand Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #463 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the 1907 Gem Jr. Lather Catcher razor and the Personna Gem Stainless PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Aqua Velva Ice Blue After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
