    Good shave report and I like the blue effect in your photo.

    Regarding the razor setting, if you get an efficiently clean shave at setting "2", then setting "2" is probably the correct one to use.

    The original adjustable DE - the Gillette FatBoy - is mild compared to some of the newer razors. And even with it, I rarely go higher than 3 or maybe 4 out of the 9 settings on the dial. In my view, the best way to use an adjustable razor is to set it on the lowest and mildest setting that gives an efficient shave rather than on the highest one possible without losing a layer of skin: it's a shaving tool, not a machismo testing device.

    Thanks John and well said!
    I don't think I have taken my Slims to the max if I remember correctly and don't see the need to. I value what little skin I have left at my age!
    All the best.

    sounds like a keeper!
    Thanks Gary

    Thanks Barry. I have enough soaps and creams for my needs, but less than I want!
    I can always hand them down the line though

    Glad to help save some money

    Lol! gotta have some toys. I have eyed those razors in the past but so far have shown some restraint...

    Razor: AJ Jordan Old Faithful Cocolobo scales
    Brush: Sawdust Creation Studio Working Man Blues
    Lather: Ach. Brito Mogno
    Aftershave: Denim Original
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

    Fabulous Ach. Brito Mogno shave this morning prior to my monthly breakfast meet up with Joe, @Trigger, at our local dinner.

    I did my usual three pass shave That has left my face smooth and refreshed. The alum report was basically nonexistent. I finished off the shave with witch hazel and the Denim Original aftershave.

    Hope you all have a great day.

    Well shux....two red polka dots ruined what was otherwise a top-grade shave. They happened on S. Porcupine(chin)and down at Cactus Nation(neck). As they were polka dots, they were painless, but showed up anyway. Clean and clear along my face and sideburns(let's throw in N. Porcupine). The brush was the Razorock 400,Plissoft which is my tallest one(not by much over the Stoylin Pro Handle, but enough). Nice finish from the Agadir A.S. to close out. This most certainly was a "Technique Trumps Tools" shave. I hope to do better tomorrow Throwback Thursday, after all. As for today, it's Pretty Outstanding.

    1 Days growth

    Hot Water Prep and Preshave = Palmolive Lather regular shave cream with coconut
    Cream/Soap = Captain Fawcett Scapicchio Fig and Olive, mild but pleasant scent
    Brush = Semogue Pegasus C7 finest badger 2 band
    Bowl = face lathering
    Razor = Gillette NEW OC
    Blade = Permasharp (2)
    Passes = 2 and done
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayer’s rose petal, L’Occitane Cedrat
    ASL = Proraso Barbe Dure
    Scent = Santal Spirit Sandalwood
    Score = 9.5 / 10
    Damage = No blood, but the alum was hot

    I do better with OC razors with more than one day's growth
    However I decided to compare this one back to back with the heavier Pearl Flexi from the last 2 shaves
    The NEW is less of a razor than the Pearl: meaning, it is smaller and lighter, and there is better appreciation of where the blade is, and what it is doing, which is kind of the point really. I can see why some people dispense with the razor which is just a blade holder, and just go with the blade. Not that I am one of those people!
    Two passes only, I still feel a bit roughed up after yesterday’s very close Pearl Flexi shave, so no need to go for gold

    However, a very pleasing Thursday shave prior to my haircut appointment
