    Late post:

    04 April 2025

    1 Days growth

    Hot Water Prep and Preshave = Palmolive shave cream
    Cream/Soap = Stirling Bergamot and Lavender
    Brush = Omega boar 10049
    Bowl = took out the white bowl, but forgot to use it! Straight to the face for a face lather
    Razor = Aristocrat ~ 1947
    Blade = Willy’s (1) made in the Kashmir area
    Passes = 2
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayer’s rose petal, TOBS royal forest
    ASL = Whiskey woods
    Scent = TBS Black Musk

    Today this Indian made blade felt a bit rough. Maybe because of only having a 1 day growth and a close shave yesterday. Smooth enough I guess but not as sharp in the 2nd pass as I would have liked

    Initially I lathered the Stirling straight over the pre-shave, adding water progressively. Still too thick
    Better slickness in the 2nd pass: the lather turns out a bit runny in my later passes

    Held back a bit due to the blade not feeling as sharp and needing more strokes per area

    No damage. Acceptable shave for a work Friday

    2 Days growth

    Decided to give the Willy's another chance on a 2 day growth...

    Hot Water Prep and Preshave = Palmolive shave cream
    Cream/Soap = Stirling Bergamot and Lavender
    Brush = Omega boar 10049
    Bowl = white
    Razor = Gillette Aristocrat ~ 1947
    Blade = Willy’s (1) made in the Kashmir area (who was Willy I wonder?)
    Passes = 2 + and back of the neck
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayer’s rose petal, TOBS royal forest
    ASL = Whiskey woods
    Scent = Bulgari Man Wood Essence

    Thought I would try the same blade with a 2 day growth: it works fine, it's a blade afterall, but not as sharp as others, still needing more strokes per area, and quite rough overall I thought

    Each time I use this Aristocrat I get the impression it is not as robust or solid as the Rocket HDs or others eg the No 66

    Super smooth shave all over, very happy with that, BBS in areas, DFS everywhere else

    One weeper top lip: mea culpa, ATG with a not-so-smooth blade

    The stiptick got taken out of storage and promptly acquired a red tinged tip: job done

    Have a great Sunday one and all

    April 6 SOTA Head and Faceshave

    Good afternoon.

    Mühle R102
    Gillette 7 o'clock Super Platinum DE Blade (3,4)
    Hembree-Maggard Timberwolf Synthetic Brush
    Music City Suds Lavender and Ever Amen SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Beard Growth: 1.25 Days
    Dome Turf: 6 days

    20250406_142537.jpg

    I definitely needed a headshave so I grabbed my Mühle R102. Three error-free passes on my dome and face gave me a comfortable face shave and a cueball smooth dome. I decided to open my new second container of Music City Suds Lavender Soap. This soap is no longer made so when it's Fitzgerald, then c'est la vie. The soap has a hard, rough texture so I had to opt for loading the soap on the brush and face lather. Here's the pic:

    The alum was silent. Applied the splash to top the shave. Take care.

    Fine shave Chris. I have never used Willy blades. However, I have seen them used on videos from shavers who prefer mild blades. Maybe that blade needs to be used in a more aggressive razor or it may not be a good fit for your beard type.

    Terrific shave Barry. I like the menthol sensation on my head and neck as well, but I will wait until the temps get to be near 30° C and above before I add menthol drops to my lathers.
