Kicking off the new week with my "Grim Butcher', an 8/8 full hollow blade, Shavemac ebonite brush and the current 3017 target. Le Labo Santal 33 is a straight forward Sandalwood, infact all my nose picks up is sandalwood. On the wrist is my H2O watch in a Mokume Gane case, ETA movement good for up to 500m in the water.
Tuesday, April 1 Vintage Williams~~Rubberset 400/3~~Gillette New LC/Wizamet Iridium Super~~West Indies Bay Rum w/Lime Still workin' the Williams. This Bay Rum concoction is super-nice.
Something for all my friends. A Mastro Livin Gifretto in stainless steel, Rive Gauche in the tin can for Tuesday's shave. My Joris 'tuxedo' loaded with Silver Blue, and some vintage Jicky. Enjoying the accuracy of my Spring Drive Gand Seiko. The tub of Trumper's was not ready for the photo shoot.
Wednesday, April 2 Ariana & Evans Chasing the Dragon~~Semogue 2012 SE Mistura~~Gillette New LC/Wizamet Iridium Super Took a break from the Williams to give this new acquisition a go. I have had Chasing the Dragon twice before and this is a new formula. Smoother and not nearly as pungent. Terrific soap base. Eschewed the stank, because the "after-scent" was sufficient.
Thursday, April 3 Vintage Williams~~Wald S1~~Wolfman WR2/Wizamet Iridium Super Back to the 3017. The Wolfie took a nip out of my lower neck.
This tub of Trumper's is hanging tight, I thought I would finish before the cherry blossoms bloom but.... not to be. It looks they will bloom in the next day or two. The last two days I used both of Joris razors, they are a joy to shave with. Creed Green Irish Tweet and Terre d' Hermès were the chosed stanks reflect and end to cold weather, it is not warm yet but the frigid days are over. As the weather warms it means my cold weather go to A/S Winter Reserve will get but on hold.
Friday, April 4 Drake's Bay Rum ~~Simpson 58~~Wolfman WR2/Wizamet Iridium Super~~Ogallala Bay Rum Another new soap and a complete waste of money. The ONLY thing that has anything to do with Bay Rum is the soap's name. Otherwise...NADA. Unscented-yes Bay Rum-non-existent. Stay away from this brand, unless you don't care for West Indies Bay Rum and would simply prefer an unscented soap.
Saturday, April 5 Vintage Williams ~~Declaration Grooming B14 Washington~~1936 Gillette Aristocrat DeLuxe~~Amouage Search Turns out my 3017 soap is FAR superior to a product produced over 50 years later. They broke the mold with the old vintage Williams.
Sunday, April 6 Vintage Williams~~Simpson M7~~1908 Gillette SR/Wizamet Iridium Super~~Vintage Polo (Warner) All 3017's should be this easy...and enjoyable.
Weekend variety report: Saturday I went with Steam Punk for the soap, but it didn't make the picture. I think it is trying to avoid being the next 3017. Still it got worked over by the Kent BK-8. A not fancy but gets the job done Hart Steel 7/8, she is heavy girl due to the 3/4 grind. It was a cool day so Cuir Cannage was the selected stank of the day. CW 12 in titanium on the wrist. Sunday a picked a show queen razor, Dovo Bergischer Löwe, she has a fantastic edge... from the factory. To keep that luxury feeling MdC in the brain bowl, great performance but in the bowl version it is messy. Simpson Chubby 2 to makes lots of excess lather followed by Creed Neroli Sauvage. For the hike around the park and walking around the neighbourhood a Tudor FXD Marine National, just incase I fall into the river.
It is Monday so back to work.... on the 3017. Since I am retired Monday feels like Saturday so my smiling Drew Dick was the steel of choice. The stank that started it all, Dunhill Silver Shadow. This was given to me by my better half, who now regrets it. She loves the smell but not happy that it lead a closet full of stanks.
Tuesday, April 8 Vintage Williams~~Simpson 57 LE "The Douglas"~~1908 Gillette SR/Wizamet Iridium Super/Amouage Gold I cleaned up the Old Type after looking at yesterday's SOTD photo. That was embarrassing. Excellent lather and shave. The SR is a blade-forward tool. Can't accuse it of being too "mild". Classy stank to complete the shave.
Cobra Classic Tuesday, one of my favorite razors. A Rooney I bought a long time ago and finished of with a truly glorious stank, Serge Lutens Musc Koublaï Khan. On the wrist is a hand winding Grupo Gamma from Singapore with a swiss movement. The infamous 2011 R41 another favorite of mine was called out of the bullpen for today's shave. Yesterday and today the Trumper's performance seems to have fallen off , it is getting close to the end so maybe it is rebelling. This Brad Sears brush has just the right amount of backbone and I like the long handle so in an attemp to hasten the demise of the Trumper's I loaded it from the tub. Vintage Derby aftershave and modern Derby for the stank and on the wrist a day-date Seiko since I can't remember the day nor date.
I get the sense that 2/3 of your post(66%)refers to my favorites-Rise Super Foam (the flying insects)and Piggly Wiggly(no explanation needed on THAT baby). 2 outta 3 aint's bad, BUDDEH.(Course I never saw a connection between Rise and flying insect repellant until I joined here. That didn't bother me, I still loved(and love)Rise)
Wednesday, April 9 Vintage Williams~~Simpson "Rover"~~Gillette #44 RFB/Wizamet Iridium Super~~Swiss Arabian Dehn Al Oodh Malaki Staying the course with my Williams. Hope everyone is well.
Thursday, April 10 Vintage Williams~~Simpson Polo 8~~Gillette #44 RFB~~Rasasi Hawas Nothing to see here...move along.
Friday, April 11 Vintage Williams~~Simpson CH2~~Leresche #51/Wizamet Iridium Super~~Vintage Givenchy Gentleman The vintage Givenchy is my most gorgeous patchouli stank. Mos Def® NOT your head shop hippie version. The French DE was loaded with a Polish blade. The American shave soap was whipped to a frenzy and delivered masterfully by the British brush. It was an international affair.
