  3. April 24 Head and Face Shave

    Good afternoon.

    Mühle R102
Gillette 7 o'clock Platinum DE Blade (fresh, 2)
    Rockwell Synthetic Brush
Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
Beard Growth and Dome Turf: 3.65 Days

    20250424_100232.jpg

Did a 2 pass shave on the dome and neck for a close shave. However, I ended the shave with a chin weeper and a 1 inch cut behind my left ear. Apparently, I landed the razor at too steep an angle and the blade caught the skin. It was a vertical cut, but it wasn't deep because I stopped the razor as soon as I felt the blade. Had some heavy duty feedback on the neck and dome. Splashed on the matching aftershave. I would say this was my worst shave since I joined this hobby in 6 years. Under my old grading system, I would give this shave a D+/C-. Take care.

  13. Ouch Joe:eek: The R41 razor head is a beast, if you get bitten by it! I sympathise with you, I know that feeling personally. That's why I like to use my less aggressive razors for my head/dome shaves. The Gillette Guard is still my recommended head/dome razor the pivot head is ideal for this purpose. Equal to it are my injector razors. However,if you are like me, your skin will be like a rhinos and soon heal. It's all part of this pleasurable-painful hobby pastime of ours. Take care
    Yours-Barry.

  14. I've recently started to use up products that are spares, my problem is when ever I buy something shaving related instead of buying just one I wait until it's on sale and buy 3 or 4 of the same product, I've just finished a puck of Scottish fine shaving soap after 2.5 years, and have another two to finish!.
My May focus wil be a near Wilkinson Sword one.:)

  15. Very well-done Throwback shave this morning. The Stoylin Agar soap set me up real fine for the shave(well, ALL Stoylins do THAT). One "issue of negativity" sadly, down at the N.W. tip of the upper-lip area,, kind of a "red ball sunset". Didn't hurt me, so that was good, at least. The cold-water rinse and Agadir A.S. killed it off, thank goodness, but I can't say it didn't show up in the first place(how's that for a "double nagative, Joseph?). 2 passes. Nice finish with the aforementioned Agadir A.S. Pretty Outstanding.

  17. I have been headshaving with the R102 for years and I guess that I was due to have a not so stellar result. More than anything, I was surprised that I did cut myself. However, I will still use this razor for my headshaves. It was operator error and not the razor that caused the mishap. I am sure it will be healed up by the time I have my monthly meetup with Joe C next Wednesday.
