Tomorrow's shave: Saturday May 03 (early morning) - Monotonous May I plan to do my first shave of the month in the morning and picked my items tonight. To simplify things, I have decided to do a Rule this month and use the same setup for every shave (hence "Monotonous May"). The setup: Prep: Hot shower or face wash Razor: Matte black stainless steel Supply 2.0 injector with "nick-proof" SE comb plate / Supply White Label (house-branded Personna) Soap: Stirling Scots Pine Sheep Brush: Semogue SOC cherrywood fitted w/ APShaveCo 24mm Tuxedo synthetic knot Lather Bowl: None Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Stirling Scots Pine splash I will start with a fresh blade for the month. Since injector blades are good for about a dozen shaves, I can probably shave for the entire month without changing it out. My last shave was three or four days ago, which will probably be about average for the month - at least until I dump the cast in mid- to late- May.
May 3 SOTE Good evening. Straight Razor Shave #606 Böker King Cutter Parker Synthetic Brush Seaforth Sea Spice Lime SS and AS Stirling Alum Block Beard Growth: 3.33 Days I refreshed the blade on my Crox strop but it was still a little rough; however it still was shave ready. I mentioned the last time that I was going to hone it, but I have been busy so I took a chance with refreshing it. Anyway, did an error-free 2 pass shave for a close shave. The alum was silent. Before I forget here is my lather: Finished with the matching aftershave treatment. Take care.

Thank you Chris. My personal take on the saloon pack is they are good for 2 shaves, then they lose their edge. What I do like about them is their smoothness, not the sharpest of blades, but give an acceptable performance and have worked well in all my razors. They are different to the German Wilkinson Sword blades, which for me are sharper with a better longevity. DE blades are the most subjective shaving hardware. I tend to favour Stainless PTFE / Teflon coated blades, the German WS, Voshkod, Treet Dura Sharp (teflon) blue pack and a few others are my reach for blades.
A simple but, very effective shave set up Chris. My type of shave.I've still yet to try the Kai blade.Have you tried the Russian Gillette silver blue paired with your Techs, I always found them to be a good combination of assertiveness and smoothness.
thanks for the reply Barry. I asked because I have about 10 tucks of 10 and can't remember how they performed. Agree with your comment about the subjectivity. Last month I used a variety of different blades and although they were all shave-worthy, some felt better than others...
To be honest I might have done, but don't spreadsheet my shaves, however I do have some notes somewhere, let me see if I can search for them.. looks like I have tried the Silver blues with my Slims and Rocket HDs in my early days, with mixed results, but likely not due to the blades Time to dig out the Silver Blues sometime this month! I agree, the smoother blades work well for me, even if they don't last for days and days
