Here my Shave of the Day (14.05.2025)


Razor: Mühle R89 // Blade: Personna red - GBE (27) // Soap: Captain Fawcett // Brush: Briar Synthetic // Aftershave: Witch Hazel - Knize Ten (Sample)

A great shave has ended. Used my trusty R89 which i have not used for a loooooong time.

Lathered up the magnificent Captain Fawcettand started the shave with a Personna red. After a few strokes i felt that the blade was not comfortable at all and it felt quite a bit dull. Changed to my Gillette Bleue Extra (which had it´s 27th shave today) and maaaaan what a difference. Even that the GBE had that much shaves on it, it shave so smooth, gentle and comfortable that it was a night and day difference compared to the red Personna.

The soap performed as always with it´s wonderful lather, cushion and glide were top notch. So i was BBS after 3 passes, splashed on some Witch Hazel, followed by Knize Ten, which had a very nice scent.

Am I ever happy that I went with the Glacial MITA this morning because the weather today is forecasted to be sunny and very warm. It’s unfortunate that this soap isn’t available this season and the tub I have is about 3/4 finished. I love its beautiful scent, it lathers superbly, its menthol sensation is so POTENT, and it’s chock full of great skincare. The Stoffel balm provided wonderful moisturizing and soothing with plenty of additional menthol goodness as well as its nice peppermint scent, and finally the Floid Vigoroso aftershave went on icy cold - if you’re in to an old school barbershop scent like I am you’ll love this stuff. Three passes left me as smooth as silk - what a brilliant shave this was!

The Williams Mug Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #222 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Torqued Slant Razor by Tom and the Gillette Nacet Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Pinaud Citrus Musk EDC. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

Thank you for your excellent post. I just used my R89 2pc Twist three or four days ago. What a great razor!
