    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: J R Torrey The Artist
    Brush: Epsilon Horse Hair
    Lather: Ach. Brito Mogno
    Aftershave: Denim Original
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Sunday’s are usually reserved for Sample Soap Sunday. However, today I feel like doing something different by using a soap I have not used in a while. The horse hair brush whipped up a nice lather. The straight, my first restoration including scales, easily removed this morning’s stubble. Super smooth and error free. No PTisms in this shave.

Hope you all have had a great Sunday.

Sunday May 18 (morning) - Monotonous May

I am sticking with my declared plan of a Rule this month using this setup for every shave (hence "Monotonous May"):

Prep: Hot shower or face wash with Aleppo olive oil and 20% bay laurel oil soap (traditional anti-acne)

Razor: Matte black stainless steel Supply 2.0 injector with "nick-proof" SE comb plate / Supply White Label (house-branded Personna)(1)

    Soap: Stirling Scots Pine Sheep

Brush: Semogue SOC cherrywood fitted w/ APShaveCo 24mm Tuxedo synthetic knot

    Lather Bowl: None

Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Stirling Scots Pine splash

Last shave: Monday May 5 - about 13 days ago

    IMG_20250502_225540.jpg

As planned, I started with a fresh blade today. The last shave with a fresh injector blade had a problem actually clearing whiskers, so I binned that blade and used a fresh one today, placing it manually onto the plate.

So how was the shave? Excellent! The last blade clearly was defective; this time, two passes cleared off nearly two weeks worth of stubble with no need for extra passes or cleanups.

For the first pass, I went WTG on the face, but then went ATG on the neck. I had to unscrew and remove the base plate three times to rinse out clogged whiskers.

By the second pass, the visible whiskers were gone, leaving only "sandpaper stubble". The second pass was XTG everywhere, with no need to unclog the razor by opening it.

Alum was a bit warm in spots - especially on the neck - but nothing too major. I usually don't go ATG on the neck anymore because it is sensitive, but ATG is an efficient way to cut through heavy stubble there. There were no visible nicks, blood spots or razorburn.

The splash provided a pleasant finish.

Hope everyone has a good week!
