  5. You still had a nice shave Chris. I am surprised that your Proraso lather was so-so. I have used Proraso Green and didn't have a problem with it. True, it doesn't lather like Stirling, but I found it acceptable. Btw, I find that making the angle just a tad steeper improves the efficiency of the razor.

  14. 28 May 2025

    1 Days growth

    Up early. Chilly day 8C outside at 4 am. Heater on to start the day

    Usual Hot Water Prep with PR Wood and Spice preshave
    Soap = Tabac
    Brush = Omega Pura Setola 11137
    Bowl = Black Timeless
    Razor = Merkur 37C slant
    Blade = Kai (1)
    Passes = 2 ++
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayer’s rose petal,
    ASL = Tabac Aftershave balm
    Scent = Tabac ASL

    Fantastic 37C + Kai shave
    Very efficient, no sweat blood or tears type of shave
    Minimal alum feeback

    Continuing the run of damage free shaves for May. I could stay put until next month...Or maybe I could push the envelope a bit.... Or I could stick with what works, for now anyway…

    Have a great day everyone

  16. I definitely understand because I am on a budget as well. I still have a few years left before I run out of soaps. Lol! Fortunately, I have more than enough razors that I need. The only things that I will replace are drugstore aftershaves such as Aqua Velva, Old Spice and Pinaud-Clubman. Eventually, I will have to get more double edge blades. Presently, I need to get Personna Hairshaper blades because my last one is in my Dovo.

  18. Ditto on the replace drugstore aftershaves, I still have far too many razors, but what I have left after my ruthless den cleanouts I'm very much content with, and can't see the need to purchase any more in the future.
    I have enough soaps and creams to last me for quite a few years too, I still have a full refills of both MWF & Tabac (tallow) version, Scottish Fine Shaving soap, Cella (red) and many more,plus my Christmas gift two spares of WS sensitive shave soap+ classic shaving soap which I will continue to use up in my June set ups and beyond.

    I definitely don't need to purchase any DE blades for the next two life times! The only ones I Will purchase will be for my injector razors, which won't be for a few years at least,as I still have an unopened batch of Chinese Schick's SE double injector blades, two batches of Personna single/ GEM SE blades,& two batches of Personna single SE injector blades.

  19. Great way to finish with Chiseled Face Sherlock(course, as I say, I will try it when it gets hot&humid. ). A minute, as usual, at the Loading Dock, with the shave soap and brush. 0:30 in each direction. Clean and clear shave all over, but I did have a scare-a speed bump that luckily didn't result in a problem, but it easily COULD HAVE. 2 passes. Great work with the A.S. Chiseled Face was the first artisan I noticed with interest after joining here.. While it now has added GROOMATORIUM to its name, it remains esssentially the same. VERY OUTSTANDING.
