    Tabac Tuesday's Cold Water Shave

    Cold Water Rinse
    Tabac Shave Soap
    Jayaruh #277 Silvertip Badger
    Gillette Fatboy G2
    Gillette Silver Blue
    CWR
    Humphrey's Witch Hazel
    Tabac AS

The Tabac Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #277 Silvertip Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Fatboy G2 Razor (7) and the Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Tabac After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Tuesday Afternoon 8/7/2025

    • Razor : Fatip Lo Storto Open Comb Slant Brass with Gold Chrome Plate (Italy).
    • Blade : 7 O'clock Black Super Platinum (2).
    • Brush : Fine Accoutrements Stout Angel Hair Synthetic .
    • Soap : Savon Nu Cajun Blade Soap Unscented Beef Tallow Base.
    • Aftershave : Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum splash.
    • Weight : 69 grams.
    Hi all,
Good shave today (I guess) with a Fatip open comb slant.
Firstly its a fancy looking razor with a nice barber pole handle and surprisingly good grip for such a
    shiny handle.
Its quite an efficient close shaving DE but with one annoying floor which many are aware is the blade alignment issue.
I was told of this before getting it in a small lot of razor I pick up recently.
The problem seems to lie with the tolerances of the blade locator pins in the top cap and base plate holes are no way near tight enough.
I spent to long aligning the blade for equal exposure and angle on both sides (very frustrating for such a pretty razor with so much promise).
When I can load a suitable blade into any of my three piece DE razors and enjoy the shave I and I'm sure most wet shavers would say "why bother".
"Attention" Fatip safety razors you really need to tighten up the top cap and base on your slant razor and it would be a great Slant instead of a
"Why should I bother Slant razor" in my opinion to much messing about when you just want a nice relaxing Shave.

    What a shame.

One pass WTG One pass ATG No nicks No worries done.

The little Chubby works great but not as good as badger as it claims.

The Cajun Blade soap beef tallow based (3.5oz) worked well giving me good cushioning and aftershave feel.

Very nicely finished off with Ogallala Bay Rum Splash.
    Cheers.

I agree! The King C Gillette was my first DE razor which I purchased at a local pharmacy back in 2017. I was amazed to find an 'old fashioned razor' available in stores. Using it quickly exposed bad shaving habits. I essentially had to re learn how to shave. It's a fantastic razor that started me on this awesome journey.

    The Tuesday Lineup:
    Henson Al13+++/Ti22 Handle.

An excellent shave but too aggressive for daily head shaves.

Hi mate I also have the +++ Henson in blue great razor a joy to use (on your face).
The Henson handle length and light weight coupled with its efficiency (aggressiveness)
    can make it tricky.
Might I suggest a Fat handle Gillette Tech for your daily head shave.
    Short easy to grip handle.
And mild enough(with the right blade to safely whip around your dome.
    Cheers.

That appears to be the best advice to avoid a Niagra Falls result. I'll try that next time. Thanks.

Two things happened in 1956. Barbus shave soap came out, and my mom became pregnant with me. Seriously, I'll have a look at that Barbus, budddeh.

My experience thus far with Frosted Spearmint Aftershave has been that it is EXTREMELY cold, more so that Osage Rub.

Thank you for the suggestions! I've often thought about a shorter handle. I may try one at some point.
Generally I do like the Titanium handle over the aluminum.

Whipping around my dome is something I can do easily with the Mild. The same actions will lead the aggressive to bite. Still, the bites are quite minimal compared to the damage done with the Gillette 195. It took me two weeks to recover from one of those. Pilot error of course.

For me, they are a joy to use. Mild razor/sharp blade is my perfect combo.

Yes it is. Frosted Spearmint is much colder than Osage Rub - it’s a completely different kind of menthol sensation.

I remember trying the Barbus soap and it was good but it seemed to be a bit drying on my skin.

I haven't been around for a while due to the hustle and bustle, but I was observing the posts from time to time in this distinguished community. I received a new order from China a few days ago and I shaved with it with full excitement. The shave is very close on the cheeks, like bbs but it wasn't very satisfying below cheeks. Overall, it was a nice shave.
