August 29 SOTM Head and Face Shave

Had a wonderful shave this morning. No drama and very little alum feedback. I face lathered to prepare the face, neck and dome. Resulted in an ultra cueball smooth dome and a very close comfortable shave. Performed my usual post shave routine. Sorry, but no dome. I will reply to everyone's posts later this evening. Today's shave was a 9/10 because I had a small mini cut on my moustache area and it was leaving a bit more then I wanted. Today is day 9 on the bottom 23 overall with the same King C Gillette blade.

I used as always my H 2 Gillette Adjustable slim handle shaver without the case.

Today I shaved after the shower so I did not need soap or much water.

 

I wonder if you were to do better prep and start using a quality shave soap, you might avoid your cuts...

 

I would cut myself more having tried shave gel with a Safe-T-Shaver, my Micro Touch On. I need the feel of regular soap/lotion or I go too hard on the shave not being able to feel what I am doing. The issue goes back to shaving with an original style Mach III and a specific Skintimate ultimate sensitive shave gel my mom got a few 12 packs of from the local Middle School in 2004 fall my 9th grade year as the school had stopped the week long shave program they did for fall of 7th grade due to girls turn at shaving that year in health class. Once the gel ran out in 2008--2009, I could not find the same gel anymore so what I tried just lead to cuts while shaving more then going without.

 

I hear you.
Still, I would consider what I recommended and adjust your pressure to the lightest of touches. Picture removing the lather---rather than your whiskers. Admittedly, this is a big adjustment, but one that will reward you with great shaves and zero mishaps.
Just my opinion, but millions of gents shave this way successfully.
In the end, as our friend Steve says: "It's your shave, enjoy it your way".
