Hi Friends, here my newest addition to the den. My very first Strike Gold Shave. Honest Abe. Seems they have a new Cover-Design, which I love. Stunning. Scentwise absolute fantastic. A nice, fresh scent which could be used all year round. Sunday will be the maiden voyage. Greetings Thorsten
I have IKE(from StrikeGold). That's neat about the new design, and good to know HONEST ABE can be a year-rounder. I tried IKE one day this summer-didn't feel too comfortable. It's great for the cold months.
Wow....my order from The Wet Shave Store got here Friday(second timeI got an early receipt from that company). A solid barbershop soap.
I love Stirling Soaps Haverford as well! I’ve got their shave soap, balm, spray cologne, bath soap, and conditioner bar, and wait for it… wax melt. Barbershop and sandpiper are excellent as well.
I ordered 4 sample aftershaves a long time ago. Sandpiper was one of them. I chose that one over Executive Man and Sharp Dressed Man(Mtn. Man was the other). That's how much I liked Sandpiper.
Picked this up at few weeks ago down near Cape May, NJ. (It was a wonderful week, by the way) Priced around $22, I left it sitting on the shelf. Later that afternoon I searched the Den for some reviews. What I read prompted me to go back the next day and buy it. A military discount helped a bit. I haven't used it yet. I'm going to use up some others before taking a brush to this one. I do like the scent. 63 next to a '67
Hi Friends, here my newest addition. Love all of them. Wonderful scents The soap pairs very well with the Pinaud Classic Vanilla on the first sniff. Greetings Thorsten
Hi di Ho Friends, this beauty came in moments ago. Design94 Aviation Black Beach No construction marks whatsoever, high quality feeling. Aircraft Aluminum Blade gap: 1,1 Blade exposure: -0,05 Maiden voyage will be on Sunday. Greetings Thorsten
This is a rare era of Valet shaver because soon after in 1946 the Valete company's rebuilt factory was taken over by Communism (East Germany) to make Valet clones under the MÜHLE name and double edge models MÜHLE being a clone of Merkur. Instead of try to reestablish the brand Gillette went after getting the Gillette factory beck and buying out Braun who was making the second best shaver only going after Braun to capture the market in Germany and Gillette's top people felt that single edge (most older blades had a single edge) was inferior to the double edge so Valet was no longer a Gillette priority and did not pursued to keep the Valet company. I only know this from a set of 3 sentences scattered in the book The Man and His wonderful Shaving Device King C Gillette by Russel Adams. In 2017 when I was looking at a rebooted MÜHLE for shavers to get in double edge the brands shavers needed its own blades according to comments where people said the blades were wider than the average Gillette brand shaver or at least in the few older models rebooted were at the time made for only the brands blades but seemed to be slowly changing to the longtime Gillette industry standard for double edge shaving. The issue for Gillette after WWI blades not fitting in old MÜHLE for East Germany was the blades had to be made in 1946 onward to try and prevent people from switching to better communist countries that used the industry standard or to escape to Germany/Deutschland or to other freedom countries like Austria. I learned this from a YouTube episode guy who is from Ukraine and does explain why the blades were different in East Germany to try and keep people in East Germany due to how bad the situation was on escaping due to how East Germany was lacking in some key resources for food and some factories compared to other communist countries. Fun fact about Braun is that due to Gillette having the market for shaving with the creams now after WWII Braun could not be sold as Braun in the USA and also Canada with a similar ruling, this is why some electric shavers post 1950 until 1967--1968 will look like the Braun models but say Gillette on them, not because Gillette imported the models adding the brands name despite the other products Braun made for the kitchen until all of it was dropped in 1960--1962 era. Gillette wanted the global market for shaving but after 1950 some places like Germany 1/2 were using electric wet/dry shavers with Denmark and the Netherlands both at about 70--75% using electric wet dry shavers. A short paragraph on this was in the same book I mentioned above.
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808759570370.html? I got the case in for my Micro Touch One for $1.05 total on a first time buy sale along with the back-to-school sale. Odd facts the case came with 10 of the Feixyu/FEIXU blades ( the ones with the Shark blade on the company's logo) and a either crappy plastic blade or poorly made overly wide insert gap generic untreated steel blade I tossed as it just snapped on me when trying to open the second layer of packaging that the bade was waxed to so that blade was garbage, then the plastic shaver I was going to get rid of is a recyclable number 2 plastic on the bottom with the HTP below that just no triangle recycle around the 2 so it is in the recycle. I did end up having to tape with Iron force duct tape the cheap easy to damage plastic holder for the that has the thin fabric on the top side, and I could only fit 5 of the blades in the case otherwise having more would mess up the shaver fitting. I was going to get a cheap blade with the mirror but then I would have a shaver of barely Stainless Steel that would have to be tossed in the trash due to being a clone of a Weishi. I did test and found out the longest handle shavers that can fit the flimsy holder are the 1960's adjustable shavers with the slim handle. I was sure the longest shaver the flimsy holder could take was a modern clone remake of a Super Shaver in the Weishi short handle models and similar designs but due to how big they made the head holding part I feel some small handle 3 piece travel shavers could fit. Yes, the entire case it is cheap and not well made but outer case is sort of durable in the same plastic only thinner but same as the old Gillette models from the flare knob Super Speed in 1950's until Gillette stopped making a good case in the late 1970's with the mostly thin packaging material case you see unsold If I had to do it over, only if I was getting the same price, this would be a good deal as shipping is the main killer on the item why to not buy as then the price is not worth it for the quality of the item.
Not shave related but his claws are sharp as razors. Meet Jasper ..... a five month old Norwegian Forest cat. He's a buddy for Ginger my fifteen month old female Maine Coon cat. We had him for a few days and finally introduced them face to face. She to the point where she's tired of bapping him on the head, so not bad for the first day. No blood no foul.
So, I got this item in all the Twin Stropper with the packaging, I think sent both in separate packages for some reason but will update when they reply. Also, the part people are saying is leather is actually rubber on the inside of the one with package. They will send the other at their expense, if need be, the wife was having major surgery, so he forgot to send the other package at the same time.
I bought a nice scuttle from them, in the early days… which I say kinda tongue in cheek since thats like 5 to 6 months ago iirc.
