Went to an Apple Harvest Festival today. It has a lot ..... some of it high lights were hit and miss engines, black smith, beautiful vintage vehicles, chicken chowder, apple peeling contest and many booths for antiques and whatnot sales.

I stopped at a few booths and pick up the following:

    #7 Stanley Type 7 wood plane from between 1893 - 1899 ...... $5
8 oz Snap on Blue Point hickory handle ball peen hammer ........ $1
A Truro vineyard lighthouse wine bottle ........ $2
A big bag of kettle cooked popcorn ......... $10

I saw a Barbasol jar, but already have two.

I'll post picks later after I clean up the #7 wood plane.

So, the newer of the two Twin Stropper devices that is for me came in and I did hone the blade then tested the blade, yes the blade is a little sharper, not quite to a new blade but as if the blade is back to as if the blade had just dulled in a bit and I might need to shave on dial 1 or 2.

I have read those old Wilkinson razors are hefty, more so than the reproduction clones made now.

I’ve been on vacation with my wife and son and stopped at a local antique shop and found a 1954 first quarter Super Speed Gillette razor for three dollars. Bought it and brought it to the cabin for a clean up for my shave.

    pics soon

What you can always do is keep the lesser one as a backup and international/plane travel if you need a more aggressive shaver when traveling as you do not care as much for the shaver; this is if you do not want to redo the nickel plaiting yourself or remove the nickel plaiting.

I have always thought the Super Speed Red with the unique grip was one of the better Gillette butterfly shavers in design looks and stands out as yes that is a Super Speed model from a distance, just like how the gold/coated brass Aristocrat or the Blue knob aluminum handle stands out saw as how the other Blue knob Super Speed model stands out.

In a recent trip to a cabin at a local state park; I was sad to realize our 1973 Newcomb record player has given up the ghost (motor failure). While sitting there looking at it; I decided it was time to give it an upgrade. I plan on replacing its idler pulley drive with a direct drive and give it stereo amplifier instead of mono. I figure I have about six months prior to our return to the cabin, I got time.

The first part of its upgrade ..... a Hitachi HT- 40S

I have a big list of "albums" in my apt., but no "record players" appear available. What was wrong with them, y'know????

After I saw your question I went and lathered the new Windsor puck and my other "before 2024 " soap base Arlington puck side by side.I used two 24mm tuxedo synthetic knot brushes ,both watered and flicked damp.I face lathered both, one each side.the Windsor definitely needed more water from the start and was stickier to begin withThe Arlington lathered slightly quicker but stayed a lower structure lather, less water required. The Windsor built up into a rich creamy thicker lather that was very white, not see through.the Arlington was more "see through" on the face than the Windsor. Both were very slick.I am glad i did it this way as I'd thought I had done something different had they been a separate day apart. From the get go,the Windsor tallow first puck did take longer at first and required more water, with a more traditional? looking lather at the end The Arlington looks/feels more like a Mcduffs or A & E type lather..builds thinner,wetter,quicker..:)

Wow. That was a really great answer, Gary. Thank you. Many wet shavers will appreciate it, as well.

It’s been quite a while since I picked anything up in the wild. The price was right and these two went home with me.

The "refill bowl" is the soap---without a bowl.
