    Today's shave was a 10/10
as I used dial 4 I got a BBS/nearly on some parts today on dial 4. no new cuts no opening the old one on neck. Today was Personna USA 100 pack day 8 topside/total.

I used, as always, my H 2 or 1962 Gillette Adjustable slim handle shaver without the case.

I shaved after the shower, so I did not need to use my shave lotion/soap home concoction on my face, but I kept the blade wet as needed and face was wet from shower. I did like most days since late 2017 a partial clean opening up the shaver in middle of shave to keep going before the final clean at the end but did the partial clean 2 times in middle of shave.

After Using the FEIYU blade I appreciate using a less mild and way soft stainless steel blade.

That's a great looking Bostonian, Gary! Most of the ones I have seen look pretty rough and beat up. Pairs nicely with the brush and the mug.

I wonder about the second model I have of the Gillette Adjustable 1960's era, the person who bought it ended up with the letter codes all messed up as some sort of factory second in near perfect condition. They probably got one as a backup near the end of the run seeing the new plastic handle Super Adjustable then turned out to never need the second shaver ever as by the time they would have needed it, you could only find multi-blade shavers.

    Shavette Shave # 273

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Dovo Shavette
    Blade: Personna Hair Shaper (21)
Brush: Leo Frilot ECWS 2018 Ghost Trails
    Lather: Stirling Sandpiper
    Aftershave: Floïd Genuine Vigoroso
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Another fabulous Stirling g shave this morning. This soap will meet up with the Edmund Fitzgerald by the end of the weekend.
You can not go wrong with the Stirling samples. I will have managed to get 40 shaves with this sample by the time I am done. Talk about value.

I received a close shave with the hair shaper blade. I did decide that it needed to be binned as I was not as close as previously with this band.

Hope you all have had a great day.

i often wonder, sadly, how many slim adjustables in mint shape were from young men who went to Vietnam and didn't return, leaving them at home as the military had supplied razors...well for any past war era really..

Yep, I wonder too what happened to them, my guess is the parents used them or gave them to other teens for a first shaver if they did not use a disposable Bic or later Twin Trac in 1972 onward.

In Vietnam I learned from my 10th grade USA history teacher (he almost went to Vietnam) they mainly used the Bic disposable single blade in the military green or early black with white head the military had the company create for them because the Super Speeds first the metal flair knob version in 1965 then 1966 the black handle Super Speed were being used in traps as the blade they fell on and, or the blades were used to sharpen the sticks for the trap, being used for things is a reason rations went from canned to the MRE still used today from one brand. These Bic disposable single blade models were originally black with white head part then in version 2 made after 1969, military olive green. You used to have a hard time finding these as the extra grip miliary olive green was not a model made in the 1960 but often was as close as you could get as they were missing the metal guard and had some grip never shown in the more modern handle. Now they have the model with the metal guard in the first color used with the original handle style. I found this info out in a USA History class you had to take in the 11th grade when doing a report on how the military changed where I picked the food/personal hygiene because I knew the least about this subject where the soap stayed the same but the shaver and the exact reasons why the food changed to MRE's finding out the number of bombs. This is also why the military went back to wood shipping for the ammunition too during Vietnam war due to the bomb issue. I also found out that somehow Budweiser was the official beer of the war due to Bush getting the last two (despite Bush then being owned by Budweiser) though I asked and due to being in High school was advised to leave that part out of the report on why the change.

And thanks for reminding me about skin stretching. My last shave I craned my neck but that wasn't enough -- I nicked a skin tag...

Late post: I came here yesterday to post, read everyone else's posts, replied to several -- and totally forgot to post my own! Oops!

Wednesday November 12 (evening) - No Theme November

Prep: Hot face wash with Aleppo olive oil and 20% bay laurel oil soap (traditional anti-acne); followed by cold water pre-shave face rinse

Razor: Matte black stainless steel Supply 2.0 injector with "nick-proof" SE comb plate / Supply White Label (house-branded Personna)(2)

Soap: Crown Shaving Co. shave cream

Brush: Jayaruh #JR276 white ash handle with Omega Pro 49 boar knot

    Lather Bowl: None

Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Crown Shaving Co. Soothing After Shave Balm

Last shave: Saturday November 8 ( morning) - 4 days ago

    The setup:

    IMG_20251103_090626.jpg

I needed to shave as I had some appointments today. I decided not to mess with a good thing and just copied my setup for the last couple shaves.

Again, while I am doing cold water shaves and rinse my face with cold water before shaving, I soaked the boar knot itself in hot water for a couple minutes beforehand to saturate and soften the boar hairs.

The Crown Shaving Co. cream is still soft - unlike many of my other shave creams. One quick dip of the bristles into the tub was all I needed to load the brush - but I dipped a little more lightly than last time. I then face lathered. The brush worked up enough lather within its bristles for both passes with a little left over.

Two passes of the razor had me back to cleanshaven. First pass was WTG everywhere and second pass was XTG on the face and ATG on the neck.

On my WTG pass down my neck, I didn't stretch my neck enough and I clipped a skin tag or small pimple. A quick splash of cold water and rub with my alum block stopped any bleeding before it really began, then I carried on with the rest of the shave.

No other problems, and the alum block was quiet. The matching Crown Shaving Co. balm made a pleasant finish, especially as the weather is now cold and dry here.

Hope everyone is having a good week!
