    Thanks Gary

    wow

Just a small sample. I got carried away, but don't usually go beyond 2 - 4 days per blade, 5 sometimes. I won't tolerate any nonsense from my blades. When they gotta go, then they gotta go, and off they go.

    Very vintage setup. superb.

Fab shave Joe, yes the Stirlings soaps are great, as it turns out I hauled one out this morning

Magical shave once again Barry. Keeping it simple almost always works

Nice post Charlie. Sounds like the Guiness go the better of you and you forgot to look for shaving gear Lol!

Nice recovery from the lacklustre lather Gary. it happens from time to time.

Nice going John, great shave again

    :)

Nice Throwback shave yesterday. Clean&soft all over with the Barbasol. Having said that, I do notice the difference between canned and soap shaves. One pass. No damage. Nice close with the Bill Neumann A.S.(1907). Most Outstanding.

Thank you Chris. I try to keep all my shaves simple, and you are correct it more or less gives me acceptable results with no drama.

Same arsenal on The Friday Fact as yesterday. Clean&soft shave for the most part, but man did I miss my usual miss spot(right sideburn area, just above the jaw). I just might knock it off later today, although I know I can get it tomorrow as I return to shave soap. Zero damage, that's good at least. Another good close from the Bill Neumann A.S. Fairly Outstanding.

Was that Red Knob made Gold as a factory thing, before you got it, or you did that?

I understand and that is why I no longer push 60 days with blades anymore. I find 27--30 shaves for blades I would use for more than 4--5 days like FEIYU blade due to being so mild and soft of stainless steel

Interesting mix of products, Chris -- Stirling, TOBS and ProRaso. It looks like Back Roads Gold did a great job refinishing that Red Tip too.

I notice though that you seem to have "hairs ripped out" quite often and sometimes they bleed for quite awhile. I can't help feeling that you would not have those hairs snagged and ripped out instead of cut if you ditched your DE blades after anywhere from 1 to 5 shaves instead of pushing them for a month.

Just my thoughts from the peanut gallery here.

November 14 SOTM Head and Face Shave

    Good evening.

    1959 Gillette Fatboy (7,9)
Gillette Super Premium DE Blades (8, fresh)
    Semogue OC Super Badger Brush
Stirling Tsuka SS, AS, EdT (not pictured)
    Stirling Alum Block
    Lucky Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 4 Days
    Dome Turf: 7 Days

    20251114_111758.jpg

I decided to go Fatboy Friday. Picked out the Semogue Badger Brush and the awesome smelling Stirling Tsuka complete set. I face and dome lathered to set up my shaves. I did 2 passes on my face and 2 passes on my dome plus touchups. After my second pass, I noticed that the blade outlived it's usefulness so I placed a new blade to shave my 7 day dome Turf. In any event, I achieved very smooth and comfortable shaves without any red oozing out of my skin.

The alum was quiet on the face, but the feedback was quite evident on the dome. Applied the witch hazel and the matching aftershave and EdT to finish this shave. I will get to read the back posts later tonight. Take care.

Nice setup Chris. Despite the blade, still a fine shave.

You must have serious, wiry stubble for ripping out your hair while shaving Casey. If your blade is sharp and you have a good shaving soap, then you shouldn't have that problem.

Excellent setup and shave Joe. I usually get 20 to 21 shaves with that blade as well.
