Thanks, this site I posted is very similar to this one in setup or the feeling of the setup.

I really only use Badger & Blade for the dating part of the USA made Gillette shavers now not even just watching after seeing how being a specific political cult a few are getting away with on the site by using the signature (paying to do so) with comments in the signature that should have them removed.

Great shave, Gary! Interesting razor choice too. What sort of blade do you manage to fit in the Valet and how?

McDuff soap company is one I have looked at as it is Western Canadian based so "buying and supporting reasonably local". Do you like their soap base?

And I entirely agree with your last sentiment: the 30DC taught me how to shave and introduced me to many fine vendors of excellent soaps, splashes, balms, brushes, blades and modern razors. Come to think of it, I also learned the trick of the post-shave alum rub here too,

Friday November 21 (early morning) - No Theme November

Prep: Hot face wash followed by cold water pre-shave face rinse

Razor: Matte black stainless steel Supply 2.0 injector with "nick-proof" SE comb plate / Supply White Label (house-branded Personna)(3)

Soap: TOBS Lavender shave cream (croap)

    Brush: Simpson's Chubby 2 Synthetic

    Lather Bowl: None

Post: rinse, alum, rinse, TSD Vanilla Shave Milk splash

Last shave: Wednesday November 12 ( evening) - 9 days ago

    The setup:

    IMG_20251121_044532.jpg

Today I applied all the lessons I have learned here over the last few years and the result was a truly excellent shave!

It started with doing a cold water pre-shave rinse instead of hot as the cold water leads to less skin irritation.

Then I swirled the damp synthetic brush in the croap and face lathered, with a bit of water trickled in gradually. This built a smooth slick lather.

Two passes of the razor had me back to cleanshaven. First pass was WTG everywhere and second pass was XTG on the face and ATG on the neck. I avoided doing a third pass to get to BBS as that is one pass too far and will be the one that results in mild razorburn.

I was very deliberate in my skin stretching on my neck. No nicks or spots this time. And the alum was completely silent at the end.

The TSD splash provided a pleasant finish with a bit of moisturizing for the current dry cold weather.

The overall result was that I managed to remove a nine-day beard with two easy passes to get back to cleanshaven DFS near BBS with absolutely no skin irritation of any kind. For me, that was close to a perfect shave!

In fact the only issue I haven't fixed here is that my shave setup photos are still unimaginative crap....

Hope everyone had a good week and enjoys an excellent weekend!

thank you John.Valet became part of gillette around 1929-30.so the vc3's and 4's were stamped gillette on the back.gillette stopped valet production in 1945 and continued making blades until the mid 50's.i use feather blades with mine .Feather copied the razor during these times and the blades are still made today..:):eatdrink047:
the McDuff's is excellent, their newest soap base is ok but i liked their older stuff better.new stuff is slick, nice lather but is thinner in nature..

Well, your razor and brush look like nice kit, so two out of three ain't bad... As for the Mitchell's, yeah, you can beat the snot out of it.... Or you can use my approach: I cheated -- when my puck of Mitchell's finally ran out, I just didn't replace it. ;)

It's been awhile since I used my trusty Dovo shavette so I decided to bring it out since our time here is short. Two passes gave me a very close and comfortable shave with no bloodshed and minimal alum feedback.
I used my Mühle R102 to headshave and only needed 2 passes plus touchups for an error-free BBS result. I had slight alum feedback as well.

Moreover, I haven’t done a bowl lather shave in awhile so I did so because our time together is short. I haven't lost.my touch. Lol! See below.

If I finished with splashing the witchazel and then the matching aftershave. I felt clean and refreshed. Take care.

Wonderful Woolfat shave Danny. It's a shame that I will never have the opportunity to try it.

Well, as the saying goes - especially here, where it's a TSD mantra: YMMV...

Mitchell's wouldn't have lasted as long as it did if a lot of shavers didn't like it. I actually didn't mind it. I could never get a really decent lather out of it, but the thin watery coating I did generally achieve was always slick enough for a safe shave. And when all is said and done, that's all you really need out of a shaving soap. It's just that there are a whole lot of soaps and creams out there that lather better for me -- and smell nicer. (Much like Williams to be honest -- yes, I can shave with it if I have to ... but why bother when there are so many other products that I actually enjoy using?)

Maybe Trigger is Allergic to all sheep products? Also, the Mitchel's could be very hard to get into the USA even going with a vendor on e-Bay willing to ship to the USA or import into the USA? I have never looked into the products myself since I rarely use shaving products.

    Todays shave was a 10/10
as I used dial 5 no cuts at all basically a BBS shave. Today was Personna USA 100 pack from 2017, day 14 topside/total. I do flip the blade over around 16 and do flipped side then total overall. This was last day because I when going to put back in the blade bent in half but still together due to how weak the connection edges were.

Tomorrow is a new blade starting over not as intended. This was last day because I when going to put back in the blade bent in half but still together due to how weak the connection edges were. I was not planning to get a new blade in my shaver as I was going flip after shave 15--16 to the bottom but yeah then use for 16--17 more shaves before I bent the blade beyond use.
I used, as always, my H 2 or 1962 Gillette Adjustable slim handle shaver without the case.

I shaved before shower so I did use water on face with foaming hand soap and some conditioner after as it had been a few days of shaving however, I kept the blade wet as needed. I did need to do like most days since late 2017 a partial clean opening up the shaver in middle of shave to keep going before the final clean at the end, only the final clean.

I never got around to purchase it and thought that it would still be around for a long time. Therefore, I didn't feel the pressure to get it.

I use Stirling Soaps that have Lanolin. I have tried Stirling's Glastonbury and it has mutton tallow. I am not allergic to sheepish ingredients. Also, Mitchell Woolfat isn't manufactured anymore.
