Superb set up Joe. The merkur 37c slant is probably my favourite DE razor, it never fails to provide me with a close comfortable shave.:love055:

Today's shave was a 9/10 as I used dial 2 going to 3 for a few parts like moustache and beard getting an odd mini skin cut no blood while achieving a full BBS shave. Today was Personna USA 100 pack from 2017, day 6 topside/total. I do flip the blade over around 16 and count the flipped side amount with also a total overall.

The adding of vegetable oil to all the parts that move in the blade head area and to the entire blade was a good move. I was just going to do the joints/areas that move but this coated the entire base the blade sits on to get the part that adjusts the blade, so I had to coat the entire blade evenly.

I used, as always, my H 2 or 1962 Gillette Adjustable slim handle shaver without the case.

I shaved before the shower but I only used water on the blade/head of shaver to help with feel, so I did not cut myself however I still kept the blade/head of shaver wet as needed. I did not do a partial clean between shaves but did just the final full clean at the end.

    :thanks:

I was trying to go careful as I had those very micro cuts from the day before.

Congratulations on using a shavette without bloodshed Danny. The more you use it the better your technique. When you use it, just take your time and enjoy the shave.

Thanks Joe, it's OK in my opinion from a scent point of view, performs just as well as all the other Stirlings. This is a sample puck, I hope to make a dent in this month!

Thanks Joe, the Omega goes great with the Stirling soaps and just keeps on giving.

I know, that is why I do not question the Cold Shave people because I know I am the odd one out not using shaving cream/soap or gel with my double edge shaver mostly water with if needed from skipping days, only some kinds of soap and/or conditioner too if needed. In fact, the shaving soap in an American Inn lotion squees tube I made is 40%--45% foaming hand soap and specific conditioner with the rest water and lotion.

Dec 3 SOTM Head and Face Shave

    Good morning.

    Assured for Men/Dollar Tree Razor
Gillette 7 Super Platinum DE Blade (2,3)
    MrEE Tuxedo Brush
Captain's Choice North SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Lucky Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 3 Days
    Dome Turf: 5Days

    20251203_101929.jpg

I needed a shave this morning. I decided to use my most inexpensive razor that was only $1.30 at the Dollar Tree Store. It is aggressive and not as smooth as my other razors, but I still get a great shave with it. I only needed 2 passes on my face and neck and 2 passes plus touchups on my dome for an error-free BBS shave on the face and a dolphin smooth result on the dome.
I picked the Captain's Choice North because the jasmine scent has a nice masculine quality and it lathers well as long as you hydrate it properly.
Had very little alum feedback on the face and none on my dome. Splashed the witch hazel and matching and I feel clean and refreshed. Definitely a nice shave to start the month take care.

    DE Shave # 628 - DEcember - Gillette SS Red Tip (1959 E-1)

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Gillette SS Red Tip TTO (1959 E-1)
Blade: Suneko Amorphous Diamond SS (2)
    Brush: Semogue Galahad C3 Boar
Lather: Barrister & Mann Dickens Revisted
Aftershave: Barrister & Mann Dickens Revisted
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

I have to say that this soap is a fabulous testament to the scents of the season. The scent profile is as follows: “Barrister and Mann Dickens Revisited shaving soap combines notes of cherry, black pepper, nutmeg, cardamom and lemon into a spicy, merry scent perfect.”
Another fabulous DE shave with the vintage birth year/quarter Gillette. Three comfortable passes without any incidents. The Suneko blade does a fabulous job removing the morning’s growth.

Hope you are all have a fabulous day.

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

Short and bittersweet, Joe. And you have been a very good cat-herder on this thread.

I joined TSD on October 24, 2016 - mainly so I could participate in the 30DC thread.

When I joined the 30DC in 2016, I expected to spend a month or two learning how to build a good lather and use a DE or injector razor well - and then go on my way. If you had told me then that I would still be participating NINE YEARS LATER, I would never have believed it!

But it has to be the best shaving decision I ever made!

Not only have I learned a lot about wetshaving, plus about many aspects of shaving history and about good shaving gear that's still available, I have also enjoyed internet conversations and banter with a wide variety of personalities on a lot of topics besides shaving. Unfortunately, I was never able to make it to any of the meetups, but I enjoyed visiting them vicariously too through the photos and reports. It's been a good 9 years...

Joe, one of the unfortunate aspects of belonging to worldwide internet forums is that people drop in and then out again -- and you don't always know the reason. Including occasional very unfortunate ones. But not necessarily always unexpected, especially in a hobby where many of the members are rather elderly.

You referred to the first organizer of the 30DC - Chris @Bama Samurai - and then said "may he rest in peace". Is he another member of the TSD who has passed on?
