The La Barbiera shaving soap provided a wonderful slick protective lather in a short space of time leaving a great post shave feel. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Replenishing PSB. My face is feeling smooth, & smelling divine. Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.
I have gone there before if the blade needed it. When I flip the blade, I am going to change the blade to the level i need probably 1--2 down on the dial.
Nice choice Joe and a fine shave once again Thanks Joe thanks John, maybe shave 2x per day and cut the stash down to 10 years Lol! Fair enough, the weather can get a bit sketchy there down south from what I hear fine shave and setup. That JTSpartan boar handle goes nicely with the fellows next to it. Very cute. Lovely result once again Barry
Today's shave was a 9/10 as I used dial 5. Yes, going up in dial from 4--5 helped as I got a nearly a BBS shave, the next level up but got a cut due to blade edge chatter and time to flip the blade. Today was Personna USA 100 pack from 2017, day 14 topside/total where I have flipped the blade due to it being so poor in the shave. I do flip the blade over around 14--16 and count the flipped side amount with also a total overall. I used, as always, my H 2 or 1962 Gillette Adjustable 1960's era shaver without the case. I shaved before the shower, but I did not use water on my face due to skipping a day. I did keep the blade/head of shaver wet as needed doing a better job than the day I had the cuts. I did not need a partial clean just the blade and did a final full clean at the end of the shave where part of this was in a shower to make it easy, but I did do some touch up on the moustache before doing the final cleaning.
17 Dec 2025 2 Days growth At the risk of repeating myself, but, hey this is the 30 Day Focus, right? Soap = Stirling Christmas Eve Brush = Omega 10049 Bowl = White Plastic Razor = Rocket HD Blade = Permasharp Day 4 Passes = 2 and touch ups, including the back of the neck Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayer’s rose petal ASB = TOBS Royal Forest ASL = Proraso Rinfrescante Scent = Stirling Spice Superlative shave, not the closest with the Rocket HD, but very close anyway. Had some decent alum feedback, so maybe I overdid things a bit…. Lol!
December 17 SOTM Good morning. MicroTouch TTO Gillette 7 o'clock Permasharp DE Blade (4) L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic Brush Stirling Tsuka SS and AS Stirling Alum Block Lucky Witch Hazel Beard Growth: 2 Days Had a 2 pass shave this morning with my seldom used MicroTouch razor. It is the same razor as the Van der Hagen. I achieved a very close and comfortable shave without any blood loss. Picked Stirling Tsuka because it has a nice scent and it's almost Edmund Fitzgerald. I probably have 10 shaves left give or take. Stirling always produces a rich, creamy lather. I had very little alum feedback. Splashed on the witch hazel and that wonderful matching aftershave to finish this session. Take care.
Yes, from most sellers this is the same but for a period the marine grade stainless steel Weishi was used for the Van De Hagen model right after 2020 at least according to the USA version of the Amazon site as some of the people from 2022 saying they had the shaver rust on them after x uses, of course this was probably to just keep the model in stock from Van De Hagen when Wishi production resumed and using a brass color stamp to look right for the model with a coating on it. Some do say the model is made cheaper now post 2020 in this year but that is just less quality control when inspecting the models due to the output after 2020 and Wishi company heads making the Wishi butterfly models ever so slightly cheaper now. I was looking up the Van De Hagen on Amazon to see if the shaver was still being bought by Weishi or if the company was buying the other model clones in case I needed to buy a new model if my Micro Touch One dies. I will not buy the Micro Touch anyhow as my dad who had the stand to air out his blades as he does not use a piece of toilet paper to dry off the blade and to keep his 1946--1949 Aristocrat lacquered exposes brass model from greening up that he uses once a year a brass polish on. I can't really judge the Micro Touch One since the As Seen On TV website all the comments are turned off since 2018 and looks like you are longer able to comment. The As Seen On TV is the only place you can buy the non case version new of the Micro Touch One new not from stores that have it in the As Seen On TV section if the store even carries the model.
DE Shave # 639 - DEcember - Gilllette Blue Tip Rating: 5 / 5 Razor: Gillette SS Blue Tip TTO (1956 B-1) Blade: Shark Platinum Brush: Classic Shaving Silver Blue Lather: Ginger’s Garden Festivus Aftershave: Ginger’s Garden Festivus Additional Care: Omega Alum Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel Cremo Cool Balm Another super shave with the Festivis software. The boar brush whipped up a very nice, rich lather. I had enough for a four pass shave plus a post shave application of if I desired. I went with my customary three passes for a super close, error free shave. Hope you all are having a great day.
