    Friday 1/16 . . .

    • [*]Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
[*]Brush: Knotty Badger refurbished with silvertip badger Ever Ready 300
      [*]Cream: Tabac SC
[*]Razor: '09 Gillette Old Type with Single Ring Handle
[*]Blade: Treet Classic Dura Sharp (shave 4)
[*]Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
[*]A/S: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel Toner & Clubman Club Complete A/S
      [*]EDT: Tabac EDT

[*]Result: A wonderful smelling BBS shave with no blood. I get the results of a test today that may allow me to go off the coumadin blood thinner. If that happens then I expect to get fairly bloodless shaves from here on out. Back to the shave result. The Treet blade did not work so good on the head this morning. Had to do a bit more touch up work than normal. May have been my prep for the head shave, could have been the blade too.

TGIF: Gillette Slim Adjustable @ 5 / Treet Classic blade d2 / Arko SS / Boreal 322 boar brush / Old Spice Aftershave

The Treet blade is very very smooth, hard to tell it's in the razor sometimes.

This is the first shave where I detected any cooling from the Polar Ice cream. It's also my first shave with a product containing menthol in quite a while and I haven't been using Max Refreshing Aftershave with menthol for every shave. Maybe you can build up a tolerance for menthol...

Another note, the Saint Charles Shave Lavender milk and Polar Ice products make an excellent combination. I think its one of my favorites... I even got a "You smell nice" from the wife this morning.

    Yesterday's Shave

  17. After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

    Shavemac 22mm silvertip
    Gold Tuckaway/feather
    MWF
    Lucky Tiger AS
I Profumi del Firenze 'Ambra del Nepal' EdP

Tried another new razor today....yeah, another open comb model. These types are a fairly recent interest of mine, and I couldn't resist pulling the trigger on this little guy. Price was right, and it's a nice looking razor.

Man, this was the worst shave I've had in a very long while.........heh. The short handle was no problem, but the razor's weight kinda threw me off a bit. I prefer a razor to be head heavy, but this wasn't the case here. The heavier handle made it tough for me to apply the same amount (almost zero) of pressure continuously during my passes. Yeah, I prefer the razor head itself to bear down juuuuuuust enough without any help from me, and that's not this razor. It's different, but something I could adapt to after a short while. I should mention the shave itself wasn't very comfortable, as I was waaaaaaaay too aware of feeling the blade on my face. It caused me to use much more caution than I prefer.

Heh, this shave left me with 4-5 small red spots around my chin and mouth, and these won't be gone until tomorrow. Face feels a bit tight in spots as well. Mostly my face is BBS, but there's a few small areas on my neck that I didn't wanna push my luck with. This set up is pretty darn aggressive to me. Nope, this isn't quite what I'm used to, especially the tiny spots of blood.

I may try this another time or two, although I don't love it at the moment.....heh. I have a hunch the weight distribution is something I'll have an issue with as to feel and comfort. We'll see.

Luckily, I have a few more open combs to try soon, being sent by my buddy (and enabler) Brian! Yeah, I'm gonna get a good idea about these things after a while. Definitely gonna be a change from my fatboy, and it should be fun for me.

    Ok, I'm done,
    Martin

Oh......did I mention my face actually hurts in a few places? Heh, reminds me of the old days.........

    Saturday 1/17 . . .

    • [*]Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
[*]Brush: Ever Ready 300 refurbished with silvetip badger by the Knotty Badger
      [*]Cream: C&E Sandalwood
      [*]Razor: 1912 GEM
[*]Blade: Ted Pella PTFE coated SE (shave 5)
[*]Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
[*]A/S: Thayer's Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner & C&E Sandalwood ASB
      [*]EDT: C&E Sandalwood EDT

[*]Result: A great bloodless BBS shave. The C&E cream gave the Ted Pella blade a great slick ride across my face and head. Had no trouble with the touch up pass on my head today with GEM/Pella combo like I did yesterday with the Gillette/Treet combo.
