am i saying this right? theres a coke thats made with a pure for of sugar i want to try. its not here in NJ and i want to know where to get it.
I've heard that some Costco's carry it. I'm lucky that our local Taco Bus has made in Mexico real sugar Coke, and truly awesome food.
you should try and track some down, it really does taste better. Chris is correct costco does sometimes have it.
It tastes like coke used to when I was a kid. A totally different mouth feel, not as harsh would be my best description. They do produce some cane sugar Coke in the USA around Passover for NY markets I've heard, but in Mexico I think they only use real sugar.
It's because corn isn't subsidized in other countries like it is here. That's why corn syrup/corn products are so cheap in the US, so they use it in everything.
Think it would be more correct to say that other countries don't have the price supports on cane sugar that we do. Our cane sugar costs a lot more than the world price in order to protect a few thousand jobs in Louisiana and Florida. One of the results is that much candy and gum production is being driven out of the US.
Let's get a group buy of that. My GF and I are trying to nix high fructose corn syrup from our lives.
Boylans isn't anything special IMHO. Mexico only uses cane sugar and it does taste better. And rum and coke with real cane sugar is awesome.
I noticed the other day that Target now carries Pepsi Natural. My understanding is that it is flavored with cane sugar.
Coca-Cola in the states hasn't had sugar since the 1985 "New Coke" crisis. You can still find bottles of the "real Coke" that is bottled in Mexico at most Mexican markets, and even the Mexican sections of many grocery stores. They are not cheap, I pay about $1.5 a bottle, but it is a nice treat.
They just cracked down on the Mexican Coke here in Atlanta b/c distribution violations. The little mexican markets were selling it and apparently it is illegal? We have stupid laws about how retailers can only buy from certain distributors(typical southern politics). We have Sweetwater Brewery here. You can go there for a tour and drink beer but god forbid they sell you a bottle
In the myrtle beach area there are several different soda's available that use real sugar. They're sold in what resemble the old style long necks. If I remember correctly, there's Mt Dew, Dr Pepper, A&W root beer, cheerwine, and several varieties of Nehi (fruit drinks). The price was about the same as a normal 20oz. The taste is just a slight bit smoother than what i'm used to.
Good luck. :happy088 I've cut my consumption about in half. When you really get to reading labels corn syrup is in nearly everything!
