I find it easy to urinate from the balcony on all those who cower beneath.

Dink: I think your problems are your problems. Work on your lathering skills. Any of those will do a great job.

Jeris Musk. I don't know how much of a YMMV thing it is, but this smelled like really bad body odor to me. I'm not the biggest musk fan, but this stuff was just absolutely foul. This musk reminds me more of musk ox than actual good manly smells.

My lathering skills are just fine thank you very much, no problems with Tabac, Speick, Proraso, Musgo, Irisch Moos.

    Cheers,
    David

I'd still recommend going back and at least checking out T&H. Try the sensitive/unscented. Its got a slight lavender scent. Stuff lathers wonderfully.

I have mentioned Herban Cowboy before: I know I spoke of its horrible-ness the last time somebody put up one of these "avoid at all costs" threads. Anyway, you're right. Herban Cowboy soap is unusable for shaving.

Can't believe the thread has gone on this long and no one has mentioned Merkur blades. They're pretty close to unusable. I hear rumors that somebody, somewhere gets good shaves out of them but I file those reports in the same drawer with the Elvis and Bigfoot sightings.

Except I know the Elvis and Bigfoot sightings are false - I've kept their room securely locked, and I guarantee there is no way they have been out and about.

Call me Elvis, Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster and Jimmy Hoffa's corpse- I love them. I'll take it a step further and say that it's probably my favorite DE blade. The Merkurs I've used are sharper than any blade I've ever tried (except for a Feather), and as such give me a reasonably close shave.

Wait, you love the blades, or Elvis, Bigfoot, Nessie, and Hoffa's corpse?

I love the blades. Nothing else. Except Chupacabras.

And who could blame you? Those Chupacabras are cute little devils!

I'm thinking Hoffa would give a really close shave :happy102

  13. Thanks for backing me up on Herban Cowboy shave soap. ChemErick too. I fixed my post lately to explain why it doesn't work so well for shaving.

Where's Fox Mulder when you need him? I think we just closed 5 seasons worth of X-Files.

No prob, Bob. Herban Cowboy was one of the first soaps I ever tried when switching to a DE and brush. My mother in law gave me a couple pucks as a gift- she also bought a couple for my father in law. Neither of us could make them work. And both of us love Williams Mug soap. And now that I've actually seen proof that somebody likes Merkur blades, I'm left with only one product that is genuinely "avoid at all costs."

For Williams soap, I have use--in the shower. For that, it is ok.

You know, every time I see someone use the word "hype" (or "I hate to break it to you" or anything in that vein) in relation to a product they don't like, I get the distinct impression the person using it is presenting themselves as an iconoclast, as uniquely cognizant of some hidden mystery, as someone who knows "the real truth" and wants to "wake up" the rest of us. (more phrases that really get on my nerves).

You are only showing your ignorance.

To hype something is to advertise something aggressively, especially to make exaggerated claims in order to advertise something.

I have NEVER, in my life, seen a single advertisement for KMF (or, for that matter, any of the traditional wetshaving products we use around here). I have never heard any exaggerated claims about its effectiveness, nor have I heard anyone say anything about it other than that it is a good cream at a good price. That isn't hype, that's an honest opinion. If it didn't work for you, THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT A BAD PRODUCT.

Institut Karite doesn't work for me--it burned me badly, in fact. I would never, ever say it was "hyped" or anything like it, though, as it is clearly a very good soap for many people, it just doesn't work for me.

Van Der Hagen Deluxe gives me great shaves, at a great price. Is that hype? No, it's a true statement of fact for me. You can certainly disagree with me, but you can't say it's a poor product in general; it may be poor FOR YOU. That's it. End of story.

And, just to pin the tail on this rant, if you have never, ever used a product, you are not entitled to an opinion on it. Period. Keep your imperious, self aggrandizing misrepresentations to yourself. Stop lying, stop trying to impress people with your vast array of (imaginary) knowledge, and accept the fact that you are only as good as your word. When you lie, you decrease your value to this board with every false letter you type.

If your only reason to post on this forum is to tell others how they are wrong, you are in the wrong place. If you aren't here to learn and help others to learn, you are here for the wrong reason.

Now I'm going to go watch my MWF float around the room, bringing world peace and healing the lame.
