I picked this one up at an estate sale a week or so ago. Introduced in 1929, and produced through the 1930s. I'm not really a SE guy, so it's best that I pass it along to someone who can make better use of it than I. There's some brassing on the TTO knob, and just a little on the handle, as seen. In fine mechanical condition.

I'm looking for a working Esterbrook J fountain pen in trade. Doesn't have to be anything spectacular, just clean and a decent writer.

I dont mean to be an #@)($ $@#)($@, but a working esterbrook may be at a slightly higher price point. Most good conditioned ones are $20+, at least.

I had that suspicion. I'm looking at a couple of slims that could come into play to sweeten the deal. One of those has an issue or two, but is still a slim.

I think I should sweeten the pot a bit. Here are a couple of Slims I'm adding. One is an L3 (1966), and the other is an M1 (1967). The L3 is on the left in these pictures.

The paint on the L3 is all gone. Starting to go on the 1 and 5 on the M1. The L3 has been dropped and had a bent safety bar, repaired with pliers as shown below (next to last photo). It looks relatively straight now. The TTO is a little fussy on the L3. As you dial down, it requires more effort to lock down completely. A little lubrication and working back and forth should loosen it up a bit. I got it to loosen up a bit myself from when it arrived. At 5 it works pretty well.

I'd call it a deal. Love me some esterbrooks. I'd love an old Wahl or a flat top. What kind of nib did you get?

A 2668 for sure. General writing according to the lists I found.

That should be a nice stiff F-ish nib. Congrats and enjoy.
