I agree on the Sandlewood, I am nuts about that soap and would love to make it my standard soap, but all good things must eventually come to an end I guess. What will you replace it with? I am replacing it with, for now, with Col Conk Bay Rum soap (thats a subtle soap with a great smell to it). My survey of soaps some time ago yeilded these results: the best selling soap was Tabac with four votes, followed by Van Der Hagen with three votes and william with two votes and Col Conk with one (bet you can guess who the one vote for conk was.)

    Day 1 of S/E week

Let my daughter pick which razor to use, she chose my Push Button Gem. Lathered up with some TOBS Avocado and had a great shave. Plowed through 2 days of stubble without a hitch. Great shave!

I'm always a little surprised, when I go back to using one, by just how well these S/E's work. I've wondered more than once why they weren't even more popular than what they were. They look intimidating at first, but it is very easy to find the correct shave angle.

For tomorrow, she has picked the gold Featherweight.

I have been unable to decide what I'll replace the C&E with when it's gone. :(

Well, I did it. First shave w/ an SE. A gold 1912 ornate Gem w/ Gem blade by Personna. Very nice shave. A little trouble getting the right angle going across the grain otherwise very easy. Smooth and comfortable.

Those do shave well.. I have a couple of each. Good stuff.

I carry a double action.. Single action not good for work stuff:D When I carried one for work anyway.

VIVA LA REVOLUTION.. Welcome to the club. That is a good setup there. Glad to have you along for the week.

Too many lawyers and not enough common sense... I had no say in the matter but did voice my displeasure loudly and it didn't do any good. :happy102 I do have to say, though, that they have held up really well the last 10 years or so.

    They're ugly but they work...

Hey, count me in....in between my straight razor shaves, I'll use an SE....travel handle 1912....actually, I've got a fat/baton handle 1912 I haven't tried yet....and hopefully I can get that lather catcher cleaned up, too... :D

You need to get that Lather catcher running.. what model is it? Oh and that baton handle 1912 will shave really well.

    Welcomt to SE week :D

Day 2: 1924 model Ever-ready with Gem Blue Star blade

Originally, I thought about just sticking between the 1912 Gem and 1924 Ever-Ready this week and finishing off with the RR. However, now I am thinking about a different razor each day. I will have to think about this...

If you don't want to clean up and use the lather catcher, you could always send that on to someone else... :D

I used the OC1912 again. I was thinking about using a different one each day..I could do that for a month and half:D I will probably change tomorrow.

Used some of the Derby that MsB sent me. it was good shaving cream. easy to mix up and a good slick shave.

Another great shave from the OC. WOOHOO...

If I can make a suggestion blackwolf, I would suggest getting puck of Williams, Van Der Hagen and Tabac and seeing which you like best. Or perhaps samples of each from the Shave Den store. I would have bought some samples last week but I needed the blades more. Those three soaps were the leading soaps in my survey some weeks ago.

Alright, my first SE shave today. Let's see what we had going:

    Gem Micromatic
    Some kind of ASR blades
    TOBS Sandalwood SC
    Tweezerman Brush

Overall, not a bad shave. I just did two WTG passes. The weight of the razor made it very easy to do a no pressure shave. I was able to get a DFS shave with very very minimal irritation around some areas of the jawline. It won't be replacing my DE razors, but it'll make it into the rotation. I'm going to have to research blades though. I have a feeling that the ASR blades are probably on the lower end of acceptable.

Don't write them off until you use another model SE. the Micro is a tough one to run. Try the 1912 models or something along those lines before you decide on them.:D

Did it say anything on the spine? How do you know they're an ASR blade? Although, I can't think of any other manufacturer....

I did a single pass with my Gem this morning with some Susie's Bubbles Lemon Shave soap and Treet blades and got excellent results. I will also admit that it seems to be impossible to get the wrong angle with the single edge.

Gem minicromatic, its the open comb (I know I said it was the closed comb the other day but I took a look last night and I find its the open comb version) with Treet blades.
