Really a month and a half? Now that is dedication to the S/E. If you have that many, and just now got your first O/C that must mean they are a rare beast indeed. Gotta agree with Fuzzy on the ASR blades. I'm not sure how many more choices there are, I know Ted Pella blades are usually named as being the best you can currently get, but expensive. Maybe a group buy sometime.
I think I will break out one of mine for tomorrow..I think I have 6 of them now. All in different cases.
Dave has a OC1912 that is the only other one I know about. I have 37 SE razors with 3 more on the way I would be in for a group by of pella prolly. I missed the one JayKay did.
It says "Made in the USA" on the spine, and the little box it comes in has American Safety Razor Co on the bottom. They were included with the two Gems I picked up.
I'm still looking for a lather catcher to add to my S/E collection. After looking at my M/M bullet tip, I see I was wrong, not a clog pruf, just a regular safety bar model.
I'd put money down on saying those are Treet blades. The Gem by Personna blades say GEM on the one side... Go to a Walgreens and pick up a pack of the Gem by Personnas....
Dang with 37 razors not counting the double edges, is there anything you don't have wchnu? I hate to ask how many is that total? Sounds like someone has caught the acquisition bug real bad. I shook it a while ago.
http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10797 down toward the bottom are the newer pic. that is not all of them but most anyway.
geeze is there anything you don't have. My mrs says that I am nuts for having as many as I do and I don't come within a mile of what you have.
I am missing a few things. But when I want to shave with something I can usually find what I want there somewhere. There are plenty of folks here that have more. Now you are going to get him started..
No. The blades are the same, as long as they're the same type. Example- all the stainless SE blades made by Personna are the same, regardless of label and all Treet Carbon SEs are the same regardless of label, etc... The blades do differ according to maker. So Treets aren't the same as Personna. But the store label doesn't indicate a difference in the blade.
There are two companys being talked about here: American Safety Razor Corp (ASRCO) and Treet Corp. ASRCO is an ameircan company which bought the Personna company many years ago and makes all razors with the Personna label on them as well as Gem blades (which also used to be an independent company) http://www.personna.com/personna/blades/shaving/ Treet is acutally Pakastani and makes blades under its own name and the Trig name. http://www.treetblade.com/products.html. Saying the same thing as Mike+ but I am attempting to make things a bit more clear to all concerned.
Thank you for the info. I'm not sold on the ASRCO stuff. I have some Treet blades that I picked up in a blade bundle a while ago that I'd like to try, but they're back at home. I think I might wait on using the SE until I get back next week and can do a proper comparison between the two, and also try out the Gems that are sitting in the mailbox waiting for me.
I like the stainless SEs best, so far. I don't like the stainless for DE shaving, but prefer the coated platinum variety. My point is that SE shaving has different results than DE shaving- for me, anyway. Bad results in DE don't necessarily translate to bad results in SE, and vice versa.
