    Edge Gel

A few months ago I tried the then new ECLIPSE Gel from Edge. It comes in 3 scents. This stuff is the first canned product that has ever performed well for me. In fact, for a quick shave, I use it with my Vintage Schick Twin razor and can get a clean, bloodless shave in less than 5 minutes.

If you are going to use a canned product, I would recommend this one.

Also, a few days ago, Edge sent me an advert for 2 other new products, and I think they are getting serious about upgrading their products to compete with our Traditional Wetshaving soaps and creams.

I love Edge gels, but oddly enough, I didn't like the Eclipse.

For the new 2 Edge products mentioned, I guess you are referring to the 2 new shave gels; they seem to have good ingredients, such as Green Tea and such.

My favorite canned stuff is Barbasol Cool Menthol. The key to a good shave with Barbasol foams is applying it to a WET face. Applying this with a shaken-out wet brush makes for an even better shave.

Even better. though, is brushless goo-in-a-tube. Men's Zone cream, $3.99 at any Walgreens, outperforms anything in a can. Sure, it's goopy and the fragrance may put you off, but the shaves are undeniably excellent...and it's quicker to use this than canned stuff. Well worth keeping around for quick shaves and travel kits.

Definitely I avoid it whenever possible. In a bind though I'd probably reach for Barbasol or Noxema.

Colgate was my favorite for a long time. Switched to Barbasol and was using it up until a few weeks ago. It did a decent enough job but I agree I will do most anything now to avoid going back to that type of stuff.

At least it isn't wasted. The caned foam stuff works great for initiation (now banned) rituals. Great way to use up what's left. I remember one time at band camp....

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the Proraso Red in a can - excellent stuff. Also, Old Spice sensitive (with Lanolin) is decent.

I used to use a biotherm canned foam. I thought it was ok. I have never had good results with any canned gel stuff that you rub to create foam.

I like the Proraso green (in a can) a lot, and sometimes actually use it by choice  It is by far the most cooling shave cream I have ever used (more-so than the lathering variant) and always gives me a good shave. In fact, I get pretty nice results with the few foams I have tried, but Proraso Green is the best (also the most expensive)

    shave well
