I'm a real pussycat when it comes to these issues.

What do you gentleman make of this Influenza, and are you being vigilant?

    If so, how so?

I wash everytime my hands, even after to read a newspaper, after to eat, after to touch something maybe first touched by somebody else, then, I put on hand sanitizer gel.

I'm worried it's going to put a hold on all transfers, and I'll be stuck here longer!!!

Frequent hand washing and avoiding crowded public spaces is about all you can do bud. Outrunning these airborne viruses is a bit like outrunning the wind. Not much you can do if it finds you. They say if you hit the doc as soon as symptoms rear up, they have meds that will knock it down. You've prob. got a day or two window there I figure, so as deadly plagues go this doesn't seem high up on the list.

It's a flu bug, much the same as any other. Unless you are already ill, you'll be fine.

Not worried one bit. If you look at the actual numbers, you're more at risk of a tree branch falling on you and killing you. There's only been one death related to this in the United States, and it wasn't until today. So that's 1 death here. The amount of confirmed cases is under 2,000 people. The common flu kills over 12,000 people a year. So, much like the hype from bird flu, SARS, west nile virus, and all the other scares of the year, I think this will fizzle out and be replaced next year with another lame ass media scare. I only wish I had invested in pharmaceutical companies to capitalize on all the fear mongering and the rush to dump money into finding some miracle vaccine.

Totally on board with this sentiment. The 24 hour news cycle needs to be constantly fed because she's a hungry b****. Plus which you can't rely on what you read/hear anyway. I know for a fact they are under reporting cases in AZ, but even still the numbers are low. Also the research I saw said the regular flu kills a 1/2 million a year world wide making it much more deadly so far. Live your life safe and informed, but not in paranoia. Beyond that not much you can do.

I'll admit to being slightly desensitized to all this. I work in the ER at a hospital. I see things there that make this nonsense look like a sneeze. This swine flu is a joke. MRSA and VRSA, on the other hand, scare me way more.

I personally don't think (and hope) that swine flu is going to be much of an issue. I do however believe that soon enough we will be dealing with very serious and widespread flu's due to vaccine's and the nature of the beast adapting to survive anything we can throw at it.

Yes I am quoting myself

Maybe the Zombie Uprising will come before the Robot Uprising

I tend to just wash my hands regulary or anytime I touch something that looks disgusting lol

I think the news media is trying to attract viewers by creating hysteria. Other flu strains kill far more people than the swine has. Why doesn't the media get their knickers in a twist over the more commonly found flu strains?

Swine flu = when pigs fly?

    I am staying vigilant.
One local high school, one teenage center and the 29 Palms Marine Base have all confirmed at least one case of the swine flu.

  12. I work for local government in the county Risk Management department as an Industrial Hygienist.

I am not worried about this flu one single solitary bit. I'm a little disgusted that its gotten so much media coverage. In a few weeks it will be old news.

It wouldn't hurt to wash your hands, but don't be afraid to go to the grocery store.

I so want to have one of those, but I'd have to get someone with more experienced hands to do the bacon weave for me. :o

The conspiracist in me says this all part of the powers that be's plan to get us to rely more and more on our wonderful government that will save us. Just mor conditioning....

On a serious note, the school district here has closed all schools until at least May 8th b/c there was a confirmed case at either a elem or middle school. Since I can do my work from the laptop here, I am working from home the rest of the week. That calmed the wife a lil too.

I could not say it better.. so I will not try. One death (as sorry as I feel for the child and family) is nothing to get into a knot about. As stated by others there are everyday things that are more worrisome

    Baconnnnnn with cheese... ummmmm cheese.
