:happy096 Truckman and I concur on your first selection! I am a huge New Order/Joy Division fan, and Power, Corruption, and Lies was an excellent album. I liked some of Kraftwerk's stuff. I had their Trans-Europe Express album.
At least through Technique - I didn't much care for their albums after that. My absolute favorite album would have to be Low-life, just because Subculture is my favorite song. Honestly, all the albums were great. I especially like Movement, because it still had so much of that Joy Division feel to it. True Faith pops up on my playlist from time to time. My collection of New Order took place back when I was buying tapes, and I never converted them over to CD's. Maybe that will have to be next on my purchasing list.

Why yes...yes I do! I'd have to say that Tour de France was probably hands down my favorite Kraftwerk song....and yes, I gots da love for The Jam & The Buzzcocks too!
I haven't seen the movie - I keep meaning to. I didn't listen to the Jam or the Buzzcocks that much. The only song that stands out is Fast Cars by the Buzzcocks. I think my older brother listened to the Jam more than I did. I went through a weird evolution of music tastes back in the '80s. I started out listening to what my parents did - Kenny Rogers, Olivia Newton-John, Neil Diamond. Then starting in 4th grade ('84) by brother and I got into rock and metal - Van Halen, Ozzy, Motley Crue. We then transitioned away towards new wave - The Smiths, New Order, The Cure, Depeche Mode. I was a huge New Order fan. Then in the late '80s they put out the Joy Division Substance album, and since I heard that New Order used to be Joy Division, I decided to give it a shot. After that, I also got into industrial music (Nitzer Ebb, Skinny Puppy, Front 242, Frontline Assembly, Meat Beat Manifesto), and then punk, starting with the Clash and the Ramones, then branching out to California punk (Social Distortion, Bad Religion, NOFX, Pennywise). Now I am kind of coming full circle - I'm back to listening to what my dad did, jazz and classical. I still listen to the other stuff quite a bit, but not as much as I once did. In light of this discussion of New Order, though, the last songs I listened to were all from New Order: Run, Round & Round, Fine Time, Sub-culture, Perfect Kiss, Bizarre Love Triangle, Ceremony, Shellshock, True Faith, 586.

My MP3 bit the dust, but I'm listening to some Tom Waits on the computer sound system lately. I received pretty much all of his work recently and am combing through it, mostly while drinking bottom shelf whiskey, seems to go together well. Daaammn Mike! Ha,Ha! Nena was a babe! I don't think a lot of exceptional music came from the 80's, but that's when I grew up, and a lot of the music brings back many great memories. My wife doesn't understand when I turn up a "bad" song from that era. Strange how music can instantly transport you back in time, the memories as vivid as if you were still there. Ahhh jeez, now I'm sentimental. Gotta go fire up some White Lion. Aaron
