I used to use menthol shaving foam/gel before I started wet shaving and it seemed like it reduced the irritation from using multiblade cartridges. I know that menthol can provide a small amount of pain relief. Was this all in my head or does it help to a small extent?
It helps.. I think that is why Aqua Velva is so good after a rough shave If I am wrong someone will come along soon to correct me
I wish I could use the mentholated products. Too much of it makes my skin react BADLY! The Palmolive Classic shave stick is the outter limit of menthol content and I have to rinse it well after use. I'd love the cool on a hot summer day.
My only experience with wet shaving soaps right now is Williams way back when I was a kid and VDH now. I'm assuming that the menthol strength in the canned stuff is much less then is in wet shave soaps. I wonder if Joanne is able to reduce the amount of menthol when she makes her soaps/creams so it is not as strong?
It helps me too.I like the soaps and creams which contains menthol on them,specially in summer because of the refreshing feeling.Also love Floid vigoroso with an extra of menthol that really helps my skin to feel much better.
I find a menthol cream or soap to be very soothing because my skin is very sensitive, and I also enjoy the cooling sensation it gives me.
Yeah....I just checked the box. I was surprised, because I usually can't use any mentholated soaps or creams....but I can use Palmolive. Would have been an interesting twist...
Some good mentholated off the shelf products I have used are Omega and Proraso. I also have some Mama Bears soaps w/ menthol added that perform well. Additionally Rodd sent me some menthol crystals which I melted down and added to a tub of Body Shop cream. It worked nicely too once I got the ratio correct. Menthol does indeed help out in the case of a rough shave or blade day.
I like my mentholated soaps and A/S. I am surprised with as easily my skin rejects some products that I can use as many mentholated products as I can. However, those that I use help soothe any discomfort as well as provide a nice cooling sensation.

Sorry about that. I should have been a bit more specific when I ask. Or just ask a differently. Since the only soap I'm using right now is VDH deluxe and I know I liked using menthol stuff I was hoping to get suggestions for what to get next. Was hoping just to get like 2 or 3 listed off, Not a manifest for a shipping boat...lol. Sorry again :ashamed001
