1. What is 'THE' razor to have? Like a watch it is Rolex, fountain pens it is 1929 Parker Senior Duofold and guitars it is a 1957 Fender Stratocaster?
  2. 1903 Gillette Double Ring prototype made by King Gillette himself....
  3. Gem Jr. Elite set. <I doubt the OP knows what he started.>
  4. The razor that you like and works for you. You'll know the moment you pick it up and hold it.
  5. Can you post a pic of that GEM please?
I would say that any GEM or Ever Ready is THE razor to have.
  6. Don't know if THE razor exists. Maybe a gold toggle? If cost wasn't an issue that's what I'd go after.
  7. whatever gillette razors people are hyping from what ive seen :)

  13. The answer to all those kinds of questions is 42.

Thanks for posting the picture Dave. I do not have one of those to post. The OC1912 would run a close second to a lather catcher in the top razor.
  14. Probably the Dorco 6-Blade.
  15. thank you sir. that WAS mine actually. thepossum is the current proud owner.

    thats what coldplay says.
  16. Another Toggle vote!
  17. That beautiful '11 Elite GEM Jr that I purchased from Dave is my favorite razor period. Very smooth shaver, great balance. An absolutely wonderful razor. Thanks Dave.

By the way, Fuzzy, you ever get a chance to put your hands on one of these you should do it. It is the best of the lather catchers for sure.
  18. Gillette Ball-End Tech

  19. So you're looking for razors that grant you status among collectors? You'll want a rhodium toggle. Or maybe a mint, not "minty", 195 (Fatboy prototype that has the adjust at the bottom of the handle.) But the real razor to have is an old type open comb AND a 1912 GEM, ever ready or star (they're all the same razor, I think).

No, no, no. The correct answer is 23 skidoo. have fun guessing that reference.
  20. I am an old type snob so it is easy for me to say a double ring old type but I would have to say the ROLEX is a British Gillette #66 Aristocrat.
