I forgot to mention the Schick D and F models - old enough to be all metal, but new enough to be injectors and not the much bulkier "repeating" models. If I had to pick only one, it would be the D. One or more of the Schick G models is all metal, too - gold plated and/or gold filled. Has anyone mentioned the Merkur Futur yet? Unique, and effective, but reliable and not unaffordable. Traditionalists may go for the HD or Progress instead. And Futurists or lovers of complex technology might go for the Vision.
I have a decent collection of double edge razors. a gold Gillette New 1959 Fat Boy Mid-sixties slim adjustable Gold super adjustable 1949 Gold Gillette Ambassador Gold Merkur Slant Black handel super speed My favorite, most comfortable to use, almost to the exclusion of all the others is the mid-sixties, all silver slim-adjustable. It seems just about perfect. Luxlover
My razors to have right now are the Mühle R106 and the Edwin Jagger (or D.R. Harris) DE87 After that an Ikon, and then a couple of vintage Gillette's and then......, and then.......
Just got the open comb 1904. My first open comb - very nice close shave. A bit light in the handle for me...
I have to say, out of the mess of razors on my desk, I love my new EJ 89 the most. Its the smoothest shaver and the sharpest looker.
