The Almond SS I used today was neither as slick nor as cushioning as the TOBS Traditional SS I used yesterday. Perhaps it's the water:soap ratio I'm using...

 

Monday May 18

Preshave: None, I forgot

Razor: 1951 Gillette Aristocrat

Aftershave: Proraso Aftershave (menthol)
Cologne: Parfum de Nicolai 'Balidin'

First shave with a quality soap and in the excitement forgot the usual Proraso preshave cream. Made no difference though, as the Wool Fat lathered beautifully and the razor glided nicely over my face. The Proraso aftershave was bracing to say the least, but overall, it was another good shave. This just keeps getting better and better.

Iridium blade already felt dull on its 2nd shave. Granted it has been sitting in bathroom for almost a week...

Result: A wonderfully smooth, comfortable BBS shave today! It's been a while, between cutting back for healing, and learning how to shave with straights. It's still possible, I had almost forgotten! First time with the Bea stick - great lather, nice scent. I think I prefer Lea, but I really like the Bea, too. Tabac splash is different than Irisch Moos splash, and not just in scent....still nice, though.

A day off from work because of Victoria Day, so another wonderful shave the way I like it--slow, relaxed, and unrushed. I am still totally freaked out over the way this 1,00$ brush brings out lather--it makes it explode like a bomb!

Bong sent me a couple packs of the Iridium blades. I started my shave and could not believe how sharp the blade was. It cut through my stubble like there was nothing there. I was ready to order them in bulk, but by the end of the shave it was already pulling. I will keep trying them though. Hopefully that one will be an exception, because that shave started off amazingly.

Today I used bottled water to shave.I did notice inmediantly the great lather that I made from Florena and the homemade soap.Its was so think and lubricating.I shaved my head with the 1912, 3 passes and really good.Missed a couple patchs.I dialed my fatboy at 6 first(wtg)7 and 8(xtg) and a final pass at 9 wtg.BBS with no razor burn,nicks and cuts.The water made the difference.

 

wild! I never would have thought to use bottled water.

I've been using this Iridium for 3 shaves now and it's still going strong. It reminds me of the Gillette Platinum. Very smooth and sharp.

I agree with Rodd, it's like it isn't there. However, I have had any problems with tugging yet.

 

I hope it was just a fluke. The first 2 passes were amazing. Lots of people using these today!

Result: Good enough shave. It's my first shave with this tech. It's super ugly but everything seems to be okay mechanically. Maybe the shave will improve, tomorrow.
