Yes, sir--I go Cracky Wacky if somebody says the name of a cream I never had before! In Turkey, Arko is the principle shaving soap, in fact, Blix is now discontinued from the market everywhere, Habibi.........I remember the first trip I made in Turkey, and the hotel I stayed at had a barber shop in it, and I needed a haircut, so the barber, who was a very, very nice man, of around 70 years of age gave me a wonderful haircut, and he noticed I needed a shave, so I told him to shave me. At that time, I knew nothing about Arko, so he put a hot towel on my face, and he rubbed a white soap stick all over my face, and brushed up a MONSTER lather! Then, wowwwwwwwwww---what a great shave he gave me, which made me feel like a million dollars, and after the shave was finished, he did something that made me start to tremble, he took a piece of cotton, poured alcohol on it, and light a match, and scorched away the loose hairs around my ears!!!!!! He saw I was shook up, but he was very patient and very, very gentle and soothing, and I felt like I was being treated like a KING! He had a very pretty young girl, about 19-20 working there, who manicured my nails after. To make a long enough story short, I noticed he sold Arko soap in his barber shop, and I bought 3 sticks for 30 cents each!
Saturday, after some work in the yard and a refreshing shower with Dr Bronners Peppermint Penhaligon's Endymion Shave Cream, whipped up with my RV Silvertip with figured Narra handle in the GTP scuttle Slim adjustable 444 alum block followed by a cold water rinse Trumper's Coral skin food Castle Forbes Lonach EdP
After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep: Shavemac 22mm silvertip FH Tech/Iridium Institut Karite SS Lucky Tiger AS vintage Old Spice (applied as cologne, since I hate the burn...heh). Third time using this Tech, and this was a even better shave than the last two. I swear, I would never have believed this thing would work so well for me, but it sure does the trick. It's a mild razor, but still extremely effective for whisker whacking. I rarely found any pressure needed during my shave...about the same as with my fatboy. Weird, since the Tech head is lighter than the FB, but there you go. I'm so captivated with this Fat Handle version that I'm gonna try a feather in this next. I'm very optimistic about that blade performing as I know it can.....heh. BBS results, Martin
Sábado // 30/05/09 Pre WH (Pre-Shower to treat Skin scraping) Hot Shower Shave Merkur 34c w/ Astra Superior Proraso Shaving Soap Omega 10077 (Blue) Post Proraso Pre/Post Skin Bracer Green Vas. Moisture Lock Result: Well, the skin scraping is carrying over, but at least today I don't think the merkur actually made it any worse. Proraso pre/post is working wonderfully to cool and reduce redness.

Sunday May 31 Preshave: Proraso Pre/Post Brush: GFT Best Badger Soap: Proraso Razor: 1930's Gillette Aristocrat Blade: Astra Superior (Brand new) Aftershaveroraso Aftershave Splash Cologne: GFT Eau de Quinine The first shave with this razor was terrible thanks to a bad blade. Put a new one in and I've got to say I am REALLY impressed with how it shaves, not to mention what a beautiful object it is. It is more aggressive than my 1951 Aristocrat but not as aggressive as my single ring. The result was my first real BBS shave with a DE. Pete
