sabre, I use an olive oil soap as a pre-shave routine. I find it makes a noticeable difference in giving me a smoother shave- the razor or blade doesn't skip at all regardless of the shaving soap used. Good stuff!

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep: Shavemac 22mm silvertip FH Tech/feather MWF Lucky Tiger AS Penhaligons 'LP #9 EdT Skipped yesterdays shave, and today's my first time using a feather in this razor. Last three times have been great using the Iridium, and I was looking forward to trying the feather on two days worth of beard. This combo is excellent.......the feather is a (relatively) tamed animal when using this razor. I can't use those blades comfortably on most razors, but love em in my fatboy set on 3. This set up feels almost as good as any I've tried....who woulda thunk it! For me, using a somewhat mild razor coupled with a very sharp blade seems to be the perfect match, and this silly little Tech fits the bill perfectly. Heh, such a nothing special looking razor in my eyes, but the thing delivers. I'm sorry it took me almost two years to try one. I'm gonna use the feather a few more times to truly get a handle on it's performance in this type, but I do have a first impression. I can see(from the few tiny weepers) that this blade does require more attention to detail. The couple spots of blood were totally my fault, and I won't make that mistake again. Just sorta got carried away with how easy and effortless the shave was, and pushed the envelope a bit too much. I'm just wondering if the Iridium doesn't cut about as close, but with a more forgiving nature to it. I may not even need a feather in this thing....it may be overkill or something. We'll see these next few days. Anyway, I've been enjoying the hell out of this razor, and today was no exception. BBS results, Martin

Monday - TSD Week Day 1 TSD in Blue Hot shower EJ Badger Brush TSD Wheat shave cream - Iced Subzero :freezing Dorco PL-510 with Dorco St-300 Blade Witch Hazel TSD 4711 Type A/S Splash with Allantoin I think I have a new favorite cream! That Iced Subzero almost felt like I was shaving with Osage Rub. I really like it better than Noxzema Lather. This shave was really let down by the blade, I could feel it tugging from the start. The Wheat Cream was very slick and protective and the splash was very soothing. I don't remember any sting at all and it was a very light pleasant scent.
