1. Is there any safety razor that is more aggressive than a Fat Boy turned up to 9 with a Feather blade?
  2. DE with fixed head:Merkur slant
    SE:Open comb Micromatic
But I can say that the 3 of them (the fatboy dial at 9) are really aggressive.
  3. Vintage Open Comb Slant (Merkur, Fasan, Ziglar)

    Open Comb 1912 Gem Deluxe

Yes, they both exist and they are both rare. But I would say they are more aggressive.
  4. a gillette techmatic with a rusted band.
  5. A Barbasol
  6. The Zook's Rager Tech.
  7. A 1908 Ever-Ready wedge lather catcher with a S/E blade in it.

    Don't ask me how I know. :o
  8. Barbasol
  9. The Cobra Classic
    and Joris open comb.
  10. Old style open comb Muhle Pinsel R89.:eek:Nothing else comes close in the real world.;)
  11. Parker 91r, be careful with this one. Can give great shaves or be a face shredder.
  12. I don't this one is as bad as its reputation. But then again, I guess I like the aggressive razors.

Note to self: get a Barbasol
  13. Question: How about the Red Tip SS? Anyone have experience with it compared to others mentioned above?
  14. The red tip is more agressive than other super speeds, but as I recall, it is closer to a 4 or 5 on the Fatboy scale. Its just not in the same league.
  15. Zackly what I wanted to know. Thanks!
  16. Moe, I would get that confirmed by someone else though... I never had success with the super speeds and may be unfair in my rating.
  17. Hiya,

I find that open comb types tend to naturally be on the aggressive side, for whatever the reason(s). A while back I went through 5 different open combs in a months time, and a few more since then. All of em were more aggressive than my fatboy set on #3, which is the perfect number. Some felt like about a 5 setting, and some were higher.

The most aggressive of the bunch was a 1919 Bulldog. Whew momma! That thing will bite if you even look at it wrong.....heh. I've never tried that older Muhle model, but the Bulldog must be close to those....heh.

I love the way the razor looks and feels, but can't use it.........sigh.

    Martin

Oh, I'd also mention that every one of those open comb types I sampled gave me an extremely close shave........ and most were closer than when I use my fatboy/feather combo.
  18. I recently put a couple of blades through the Red Tip I got from Corey.
Your rating is pretty close to my experience, although I might venture to a 6.
    I wasn't particularly impressed, unfortunately.
For me, it's looking like it's fixed head or nothing.
Well... I take that back. For TTO, the 40's style SS's are fairly aggressive and I was able to get a good shave out of mine with a Feather.
  19. I feel the same way than you.The red tip Super Speed is not as agressive as I was thinking It would be(as you said like a fatboy dial @ 5 or 6),however is a smooth razor and well balance.
  20. Thanks! I've got both a red tip and a fatboy in the collection, but have not used either yet. I've been using a HD for ~ 3 months, and just switched over to a HD slant this morning. After getting the slant down, i'll have to try the other two.

    Thanks again,

    -Moe
