    This one is a Frederick Reynolds Hollow Grind Barber's Notch, she has quite a smile the blade goes from 6/8 at the toe to 5/8 at the heel...

    As you can see from the before pic it wasn't a pretty sight but the low speed buffer and 80-600 grit compounds cleaned her right up...

    The polish was completed up the high speed buffer with Emory -Stainless polishes..
    The finish is near perfect satin...

    The scales are the same acrylic material that I used some months back on another FR, in fact that was what gave me the idea, this time though I reversed the cut for the blanks and got a completely different look from it... The shape came from the origianals... The pins are stacked brass and the wedge was cut form the excess of the blank for the scales.....

    Glen,

    You're killin' me here. Another awesome Reynolds. Great job getting that nick near the heel out. Do you do anything special to balance these?

    Damn nice work. I have a soft spot for Reynolds blades.

    Awesome. I'm telling you the pic where it's balancing is sweet.

    Okay, so I pulled out Grandpa's straights today (some of which I hope will be visiting you one of these days, Glenn) and tried the balancing act. They'll all balance, most at the end of the tang, right next to the scales. Guess I answered my own question. ;)

    Vintage Razors:::

    Tom you just figured it out on your own.... :signs107
    When I first started restoring razors the way i leaned about them was to look at the Vintage stuff..
    I measured, weighed and balanced as many as I could,,,,
    I realized something, those guys knew their stuff, things were built a certain way for a reason....
    I might be using more modern materials but other than that I try and emulate the Vintage way of doing things...
