Favorite scent in soaps and creams?

I know it's hard to pick just one but is there a soap or cream you reach for a lot just because of the scent?

I prefer a "clean soap scent". Arko, MWF, Palmolive creams, etc. If I had to pick a favorite soap or cream on scent alone, though, it would have to be Erasmic. I can't live without that scent....

So, what about you guys/gals? Can you pick one favorite? :)

Eric, there are too many I like to pick just one. I like strong scents like Roger & Gallet l'Homme but I also like subtle scents like Pre de Provence (both soaps). I've just discovered the scent of De Vergulde Hand (DVH) shave stick and La Toja shave cream. It's way too hard to pick one. :D

    no, wait - Speick

    no, no...yeah, Irisch Moos...

    wait, wait....Speick...

 What was the question again?

I do really enjoy the clean soapy scents, too, and Erasmic is way up there, too...

In the end though, it really is a toss up between IM & Speick, I think with IM edging ahead just the slightest...

Can you describe this? Is it just a soapy scent or something distinct like citrus, lavender, sandalwood, etc.?

I first smelled the Roger & Gallet l'Homme as an EdT. I'm awful at trying to describe scents. I have read that it has notes of cedar, amber, and ylang-ylang, if that helps. I just really like it. However, it is definitely not the soapy scent that you prefer. For that, try the DVH soap or shave stick that I mentioned.

My favorites are Trumpers Lime and Trumpers Coconut in soaps. In creams I like AOS Sandalwood and T&H Rose.

A rose by any other name. . .

    TOBS rose. That wasn't hard.

It depends a lot on the time of year and where I'm going after I shave ... different venues and occasions call for different scents.

A large part of my rotation is UNscented ... not because my skin is sensitive, but purely for aesthetic reasons.

But if I had to pick just one, it would likely be Tabac ... especially when I go whole-hog and include all the Tabac-cessories, like the Luxury Bath Soap, ASL, EdT and Deo-stick.

My picks and not in any particular order:

    SCS Smoke & Beads
    SCS Verbena (no longer available)
    TSD Bamboo & Teak
    TSD Signature Scent
    Tabac
C&E Sweet Almond Oil (no longer available)

  12. Hiya,

Of all the countless soaps/creams I've used, I'd have to say TGQ 'Leatherneck' would be the one that makes my sniffer the happiest. There's always been something about that blend that Colleen uses.........it's about perfect for me.

Sadly, I ran out just recently, and have to reorder the soap sometime soon.

This may go amiss with many, but it's a tie between IM, Penhaligon's English Fern and The Body Shop Maca Root cream.

You know, if I'm totally honest...TBS wins. The reason? When I use it, and later in the day I catch a whiff of the scent on my upper lip or something, I ALWAYS smile. There's just something so cheerful about it...

I have a long way to go to try and many soaps/creams as others on the forum. I tended to lean towards fresh soapy scents when I started, and by no means do I not still enjoy them, but I find my self REALLY enjoying TSD Iced Mojito.

i think this must be one of the hardest questions as regarding the choice we have on the market but if i was traped on a desert island it would be taylors of bond street the perfume smell of roses, as i have roses in the garden and i love my roses but they must have a perfume that,s whey roses. its a fragrance that lasts the hole shave and when you open the pot it is like my garden fab.

I love the scent of the L'Occitane Cade shaving soap. In the creams it has to be T&H Grafton.

  17. Hi Pete,

My buddy Brian sent me some of that soap(Cade), and I also like the scent. Only trouble is I find myself trying to get a good whiff.........it's pretty subtle.

You might look at the DR Harris Marlborough soap for something similar fragrance wise to the Cade. Little more scent to it, and similar notes. It's one of my favorites, and performs really well. From what I understand, the cream has more fragrance than soap.

Yes the Cade soap could really do with a much stronger scent, it's lovely stuff.
I'm also a great fan of the Harris soaps and Marlborough is a very nice one. Some people describe it as Sandalwood like but I'm not so sure. Harris seems to be another soap that has complaints of a weak scent but all of mine have been OK. The Almond is good too.
