It should be centrally located in the US for best exposure. I am thinking something like, oh I don't know, Tulsa, Oklahoma?
Who do you expect to provide a campground for free? Especially in the Cincinnati area? If that is a must for you, then how about parking at a nearby Wal Mart? This event is geared towards those who are serious about their hobby. The costs are not that great, and very cheap compared to holding it somewhere else. A couple of meals and some snacks are included in the registration fee. You can figure that for those two meals you would spend $20 to eat a restaurant anyway.
I would wish them luck, but if they are successful then every event will carry that kind of charge. A charge I think is ludicrous. I don't think it'll be around more than a couple of years with that kind of gouging just to get in the door.
It's their event, who are we to complain? If they having been going for 10 years, and are growing, as others have stated in this thread, then all I'll say is "Congratulations and Best Wishes". Such negativity just makes me sad.
Well I can tell ya - if it wasn't so far for me (therefore with high airfare fees) I would be there in a shot!! I couldn't think of anywhere else I could spend the weekend that would compete with playing with and talking about and thinking about and fawning over and learning about and drooling on......... RAZORS!!!! YEah!!! The cost is fine. I would be there in a shake!! Maybe the year after, or the one after that, but it is definately on my todo list!!!
Hmmm... I wonder how horrified the vendors would be if people bought their collectibles in order to actually use them? Especially the blades? :happy102 I'm not that far away and could get even closer by staying at our son's place in Middletown, but I don't know that I'm into it enough to justify spending that much for what would probably be a few hours of checking out what's for sale. Maybe next year. This reminds me... I need to look up when the annual Ohio Pen Show is and get it on my calendar. Cheers, Tom
I agree. It includes two meals, LOTS of face time with some serious collectors and lots of eyes-on time with some serious collections. I've been interested, but could never fit into my schedule. Plus I'm afraid of the choices I'd be forced to make when it comes to buying. In fact I'm not sure I would be able to afford even ONE of the razors I know I'd want to buy. All in all, it sounds like a great way to spend a weekend!
I would absolutely love to go, I wish it were closer, and I could take the time off. I will go some year. Honestly one of the things that would draw me to it most is the chance to meet so many of the people that I feel I know, but have never met. I don't know what the fee includes, but I have a feeling that would be the cheapest part of the trip if I made it.
Would love to go, but with all the costs would be hard for me to justify. With those costs:hotel, gas, cost to get in, souvenirs and other little things im forgetting about, I could get alot of very good razors for myself. While I realize money doesnt always beat the experience just would be hard.
