    • [*]Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
[*]Brush: The Dana Brush an Ever Ready 50N Boar
      [*]Cream: TSD Buccaneer
[*]Razor: '09 Gillette Old Type with Single Ring Handle
      [*]Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (shave 1)
[*]Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
[*]A/S: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel Tone and AQ Skin Conditioner
      [*]EDT: 4711 EDC

[*]Result: New blade in the old razor today. So a BBS shave with no blood. Use the Dana Brush with a cream today just to see how it worked with the cream. It was not good had to add extra cream and ended up using double the amount I usually use. Not something I will do again. The Buccaneer comes from a sample and while the cream worked effectively I am undecided about the scent.

    Semogue 1305 Boar Brush
GEM MM Open Comb with Pella Gem (D1)
    Tabac Soap
    Thayers Rose Witch Hazel
    Tabac AS

    Couple of 1st here...
Finally got a Gem MM OC from the b/s/t and all I can say is WOW! Extremely close but also oh so smooth. I even managed to get my trouble spot om my neck BBS w/o irritation!
The Tabac soap is really great stuff. Thanks Matt. Count me as one that likes the scent.....and an added bonus so does the SO.

*I find that olive oil may be my best weapon. Each pass i put another layer of olive oil and then lather. It is incredibely slick and I think olive oil is a good mosturizer. My gf will sometimes use it as a moisturizer when her skin is dry.

I like it better than art of shaving preshave oil. That is the only preshave oil I have ever used but it was very thick and clogged my razor. Olive oil is easy to wash off and cheap as well.

Yes, I have tried both. Neither of them really have the smoothness of the Swedes as far as my face can tell.

Is it just me or are there a bunch of Gemocrats on TSD? Apparently at TSD you don't need a Merkur to be cool. I like it...I like it A LOT!

I think that here we try to avoid those kind of ppl(the ones who think that to be cool you need a Merkur,or a hard to find vintage shaving soap,or a 400 euros
french brush that is not even worthy 90....):happy102:happy102:happy102

Oh, I have been part of the revolution for awhile now thanks to a fuzzy wabbit and a certain possum. This was just the 1st for a OC. I think the OC makes 12 SE razors in the collection. :happy102 can you say RAD!!!

Astra Superior Platinums are better than Swedes and cheaper.

    Even the Keramiks are better.

    Soap: Spike Shave Stick

    ...

I'm keen on seeing how many shaves I can get out of a Fusion cart.

Speick's so overrated and what's more has a banal scent; it works well enough but one can get so much more from Arko.

I humbly disagree...well not really disagree because they may be for you.
For me though, the Astras, either one, are not as sharp and smooth as a swede. I am really liking the Iridiums and the 7 o'clock blacks and think they might be just as good as the swedes.

I simply hated Astra's. They sucked for me.
