My first foray into DE. The razor, brush, and cream are coming later. Check the newbie threads if you want more info.

Here in Austria it's the same with the universities as it is in the US: Yesterday I got a very thin (1 sheet) letter answering my application for a MA course telling me in a polite way to bugger off. :( Ah well, if they don't want me, they don't deserve me ;)

Sorry to hear about that, Klaus... :(

Great attitude about it, though! :happy088

All of those blades that you got, in my opinion, are very good blades. I don't know anything about the creams you got but I think that the creamo is non-latherin and the bill Jellosy is lathering, I think.

Here we go, 4 tubes of Omega shaving cream, a tube of Godrej Lime Fresh cream, two Omega #10265 brushes (red one is Teiste's) and a Gillette Super Click razor (that cost S$0.40).

Yesterday I got the package from iherbs.com with the Thayers Witch Hazel (1 bottle of the Medicated Superhazel and another of Original Witch Hazel Astringent with Aloe Vera), not bad for about 13$, including shipping and only 7 days to reach me!!!!!:eek::eek:

The blades are the only thing I paid for, so I'm not planning on using the other stuff until I get a solid DE rotation going.

Wow teiste you should have enough soap there to last the rest of your life. I think that Mandrake has found a merchant with honest shpping rates.

try it without the 's'... iherb.com

I used www.mothernature.com for my Thayer's and was very happy with their service. I didn't price compare, but it sounds like you'd do good from either place....

...and the more I use the Medicated Superhazel, the more I like it....good choice Mandrake! :happy088

MsJoeD, JoeDJr and I were out antiquing last weekend. We hit our three favorite shops and didn't find anything worth while until MsJoeD noticed that this Wonderedge, which we passed up a few weeks ago because it was priced too high, was marked 50% off. At that price it was a deal. It turned out to be NOS. The pictures show it just as we received it. The 'stuff' on the back of the blade turned out to be dried oil from the original packaging. It also had a small bit of rust on the toe between the edge and the spine that came off with little effort. Some soap and water and a little Mass and it looks like new.

Who's got rip-off shipping rates? I'd like to know so I can avoid their dishonest shipping rates. Share your sources, please.

I do not know if "honest" or "dishonest" are the right words, but the flat international shipping rate from iherb.com is 4$, and I find sellers even within Spain that cost a lot more! Not to mention from the USA, although I have the impression iherb have a warehouse in Europe to distribute at this side of the pond, as I got a printed stamp in the package from Germany....Pity they do not sell more shaving related stuff... :(

I recently shipped two pucks of VDH to a forum member in Germany for $8. Drugstore.com charges $35 for that. Knife Center charges $25 for that. I think mandrake is right its a flat rate shipping which tends to favor large orders.

Why would you go to Drugstore.com or Knife Center to ship two pucks of VDH to Germany?  :D

Well, are there any local vendors to stay away from for shipping in the US?

The other forum member told me that he went to drugstore.com for VDH to ship to him in Germany then told me what drusgtore wanted. I compared that to my cost to ship the same thing to him. I think mandrake is right this is a matter of flat rate shipping.
