I just received my first stick of Speik today. Had to use it to shave this evening. This is far and away my favorite scent among shave soaps. I know it has a reputation for having a good scent, but that reputation doesn't do the the warm, spicy, and comforting scent justice. I'll have to wait before commenting on shave quality as I couldn't resist trying my new Vulfix VS 5 boar brush with it and had a good, but not great lather the first shot with these two new items. I'll have a hard time not ordering the aftershave, body soap, cologne, etc.
You have to get them. Have to. Nothing better than Speick stick for lather (cream is nice too - I think the cream's scent is stronger), aftershave (which is a great AS - great skin care), followed by the cologne. The cologne is the best, I think - very spicy/peppery....
I received the body bar soap and aftershave as a free sample. When I first took a whiff of it I didnt care for it. However, after I used it I loved it and it grew on me in a heartbeat. It is about perfect as far as strength wise for me. Its strong enough to smell, but its very light and warm and doesnt intrude. I wasnt sure if I would like a smell like this but it turned out great.
It's a good stick, but its scent's dull IMO. When it comes to performance I'd still take Arko, whose scent is sizzling, and Tabac / Irish Moos, top performers, the former of which I prefer for its scent.
Speick is very nice. I have the cream and AS splash. Had the balm but sold it(dumb idea). Very nice scent!
I dont know how strong is the stick scent,but the cream scent is very very nice and possibly is my 2nd or 3rd fav. one.
I have a stick also and love the smell. I am going to try the bath bar as soon as I have time to get to Mertz.
I received a sample of the Speick bath soap in an order from Shaving Essentials a long time ago. I was disappointed. The scent was absolutely fantastic, as Speick is. But it was no different than any other detergent type bar and dried my skin out. If you don't have any trouble with those types of soaps, I highly recommend it - nothing like bathing in Speick!
Tom, I think I have a tube of this, I'll send you some with the other junk I am supposed to send you They also have a bath gel, I'll send you some when my La toja stuff comes in. No menthol in this one, but it doesn't need it, it's very good stuff. They also have a deoderant spray.
I have the cream, stick, AS, cologne, bath soap and ASB, all are great products. I need to order another bottle of the AS, think I'll give the deodorant stick a try. Alpineland Deli on Mercer Island has the bar soap, also have Tabac bar soap and I think the cologne and the whole 4711 line. Cheers, David
Thanks for all the great response. I'll have to try the aftershave and cream at some point. Thanks Truckman for the detergent bar description, I don't do well with those either so that's a Speick product I'll avoid. Glad to see some others who love this scent also.
Yeah, it really was a shame, because I loved showering with it! I had to stop using it, though... I can hear it now....Speick! Speick! Speick! Speick! Lovely Speiiiick! (sung to the tune of Monty Python's 'Spam' song...) :happy097
