I'm sorry, but I have to ask the question.....

What's the difference between the Atra, Sensor,(or XL), and the Trac II ???

Are they not all 2 blade razors???

There was another thread asking for your favorite cartridge razor and some were mentioning that they were fans of Atra's or Sensors, etc.

Can someone please explain the diff?

    Thanks,
    Bob

The Trac II is the oldest and is a simple twin blade razor. The Atra is newer and features a pivoting head. Then came Atra plus which also has a lubricating strip. The Sensor is the newest amongst the three and has spring mounted blades along with a pivoting head. The Sensor Excel blades have additional microfins for easier glide which the standard Sensor blades don't have. A Sensor handle will accept either Sensor or Sensor Excel cartridges and likewise, an Atra handle will accept both Atra and Atra plus cartridges.

While the intent of those microfins on the Sensor Excel are to improve glide, all they really do is force the blades closer together and increase clogging. Even worse are the Sensor 3 cartidges, which are just a Mach3 cart. made to fit on a Sensor handle.
