I'm new to the DE world (been using a straight for a year or so, thought I would go exploring), just ordered my first DE -- a Merkur Hefty Classic -- after poking around in a few threads... and I'm looking forward to getting all the advice I can handle from everyone here.

Why shave with a double edge if you go the hang of the straight, this is the subject of another thread I started. I think that if you go the hang of the straight then the safety should be real real real easy.
What it really boils down to is that I'd like to devote more time to other hobbies instead of my straight-razor-itis... it can consume a good bit of time.
