It all depends on the woman. Some look better with short hair, others better with long hair. I've always had long hair, and many times, actually most often, my hair is longer than that of my female companion. St. Croix
There's more to it than just the primal thing. It just plain feels good. I used to work with a woman who had beautiful long blond hair. When she got married her husband didn't like it long any more, (don't know why). She asked my opinion and I told her how I felt. Then one day I showed up for work and taped to my locker was an envelope stuffed with the biggest lock of blond hair. I still have it boxed away somewhere. I don't know why she tempted me like that, actually it was more like torment. So for me it is the feel and the way well groomed long hair flows. It is visually very pleasing. Kind of like the way a well shaped and properly packaged woman is visually pleasing to a man's eye. However, if it is messy, (not sexy messy), long hair, then short is better.
men and long hair yeah, why is that! My husband likes my hair long, I perfer it short. As I have the kind of hair, that no matter what I do, it does what ever it wants anyways. Long, to me just is messy and a lot of frustrating work that gets me no results. Short, it has some curl and body to it and is somewhat tamer, though it still does what ever it wants and does not consult me. So I wear it short! :scared001
I usually keep my hair at a good medium length, meaning just above the shoulders. The longer it gets, the more it seems to shed (natural shedding), which clogs drains, getting loose in the kitchen , and Jenna likes to pull it HARD.
Asking why men like long hair is kinda impossible. Why is any one trait considered attractive (other than the obvious ones ). It just comes down to personal taste. It is a very rare occasion that short hair looks better in my opinion. Personally it would stop being attractive if the hair is either past the waist, or just unhealthy.
This is a very good question because I would have this conversation with my ex-gf all the time. She was lazy and preferred a short hairstyle. I LOVE dark, long, curly hair. She always told me how it doesn't matter. Well, for her graduation she got extensions. For that week, she couldn't count how many more guys hit on her. Some guys who never noticed her before started to compliment her. To break it down, here are a few reasons. Remember, these are generalizations and do not represent any factual evidence. 1. I think many men un/consciously find short hair to be masculine and conversely, long hair to be more feminine. Why? Simply because most men have short hair and women long hair. It goes to reason then that long hair supports femininity and makes a woman more womanly. You can't help but think this even a little if that's what you always see. While this isn't for everyone, one of the ways many lesbians I know show their homosexuality is to cut their hair. Maybe they feel long hair is a sign of normal social order and they want to break the rules. Maybe they know many guys like long hair and this is a way to show they root for a different team. Maybe they simply recognize that long hair supports a type of image that they do not fit. I won't speculate. 2. Next there is the sensual and sexual aspect. Two of the more exotic groups of women in the world are Latin and Indian women. Latin women (the accent, the beauty, the passion, the intensity) are very commonly associated with being exotic. You see it in movies, magazines, music videos, and in everyday life. So many of my friends see Latinas as jewels from a far, far, far away place. Indian women (read Karma Sutra) are becoming increasingly more Britainized/Americanized but they still hold onto some traditional aspects of sexual experimentation and sophistication. To both groups, long hair is apart of the sexual appeal of a woman. It's the way it flows and wavers when she walks, the way it drapes down her spine, the way it playfully falls in front of her face, yada yada... 3. Lastly, I brought it up in #2 but it should get its own section. I'm referring to the media's representation of feminine roles regarding hair. In many films during the studio production area of Hollywood, women with short, perfectly cropped hairstyles were motherly or working women. Oh sure, there were actresses with short hair but that look was mostly a practical option for everyday life. Besides, buxom women were the real heartthrobs of the era. And they wore form fitting dress, sometimes with low necklines, but always with locks of hair parading down the back (Marilyn Monroe was the big exception to the rule). Even in today's world, you see a commercial with a girl walking down the street in a subjective dress - she most likely has long hair. The supermodels that men worldwide fantasize about have long hair. If you look at an awards show, many women get extensions. It suggests that long hair adds to the glamour, the sex appeal, and the alluring quality right along with the shoes, the dress, the makeup, and the jewelry. If you look at a TV show, the sporty girl usually has short hair. The sexy one has long hair. Just so you know, I'm Haitian and Venezuelan. Venezuela is very big on Miss Universe - girls are groomed since childhood - and it shows because I think Venezuela has won the most times. If you have short hair, don't even show up to Miss Venezuela. Sexuality in Latin America is very in your face and accepted. For women, your hair is a big part of that package. As for my comments on Indian women, I have many Indian, Bangladeshi, and Sri Lankan female friends and these were their words.
Personally, I like long hair because of #2 - I just think it's sexier than short hair. Why do I think that? I don't know; I just do. I don't care for #1 and upholding images of femininity but #3 has to affect all of us. We are bombarded with images everyday. It's hard to say how they influence us but even if unconsciously, there has to be some affect.
Depends on the woman in question. Some look better with long hair, some short. My wife has had both and I definately perfer long hair on her.
When you talk about a person's attributes, male or female, you are bound to relate those attributes in a way that makes them sexually attractive to you. You can't get around it. It doesn't matter whether the attributes are physical or emotional. So, when you start a discussion about why men like long hair you are going to get where we are now in this thread. As for the media shots, That's just what they are. Media shots. Huge amounts of dollars went into those pictures to do one thing. Sell something. And the weapon of choice? Sex. So, to be fair, if you post pictures of sexy celebrities you need to balance them out with mundane candid shots of the same person. Let's see if you have the same reaction. Kind of like before and after pictures. I think the original question has been answered quite thoroughly and we need not go any further with it. If you wish to post more celebrity pictures, I would suggest starting a celebrity photo thread.
Every girl I have ever seen with both short and long hair, have always looked better to me with their hair longer. Its always been the case for me. there are girls that look good with short hair but I think that they always look better with long hair.
I hope no one has hurt feelings from this thread. I certainly do not harbor any bad feelings towards anyone who has participated in this thread. My apologizes if I hurt any feelings.
