I think those long hours at the job are taking it's toll on my dear bro. ;)

Quick update: I looked at adjustable DE and injector razors on ebay, read a little, and bought an injector to try out. I also have my eye on a few Gillette Slim adjustables but need to wait for the auctions to end on those.

I'm already a soap snob and will try my current lovely suds before buying special soap. More out of a non-cluttering desire than anything ;)

    Thanks again!

I've used soap to shave thus far, no problems. What are the benefits of brush shaving vs lathering up with the bar? I'd prefer to start by just swapping razors, then perhaps upgrading to a brush in time.

To other women, what do you use?

ella, while regular soap with do ok for now. Getting a good brush and some shave soap/creams will make it a much more satisfying experience. They are specially formulated to shaving and provide more cushion and glide to give you a closer and more comfortable shave. You can wait for a bit to get one if you want, but it does greatly enhance the experience. :)

    Welcome aboard, Ella.

You cite you're currently a happy shaver, so unless you're looking for a new hobby, stick with what you've got.

As for the ingrowns on your underarms, I highly doubt going traditional will solve your problems. If it's aesthetically sound with you, shave ingrown-susceptible spots in the direction of the hair growth rather than against.

If financial means are tight for you, try a shaving brush from Wally World for now. Then get yourself a good brush when you can.

Right now I use a champagne colored lady gillette and derby blades. I use a badger brush with Taylor of Bond Street Almond shave cream. A little of that cream goes a long way and I get such a great lather if I beat it around in a bowl. I haven't had any irritation with it, ingrowns or otherwise anywhere. I think the only time I've gotten irritated was when I took a few too many passes on my underarms.

I've been shaving with a DE for a little over a month and I really like it. I guess that's why I'm here.

Thanks. I have a silly question. How do I change the title under my name where it says insert title here?

That's funny. I thought somebody changed it for me. I guess 6 posts did the trick.

it's just one of a list of standard "titles", which you get depending on your post count....of course, there's always the "custom title", which I've no idea how to get....
