  8. After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

    vintage Rooney badger
    fatboy/Feather
    vintage Yardley SS
TSD cedar and lemon AS milk(thanks Brian)
    TGQ 'Cavendish Black' extrait

Excellent shave this morning, with the feather cutting effortlessly through two days worth of whiskers. I could use that razor combo every day......just about perfect.

First time using this old Yardley soap, and I was looking forward to at last giving this stuff a try. Yeah, I'd read so much about this product over the years, and I finally ran across a never used bowl recently. Just about no scent left to it, but an extremely nice lather performance wise.

I'm left with BBS results.........seriously. This morning's shave was even better than usual.

Good shave this morning. This razor is very comfortable both in terms of how it feels in your hands and how it shaves. I had been on two pass shaves since a less than stellar shave on Thursday but today I went three passes because the irritation seemed to have gone away and it worked out just fine.
Tunes? OK here's a good one I heard this morning:

God Keith Richards is a medical miracle. I think in reality he actually died a couple years back and only appears to be alive today because of the residual effects of cocaine he used 30 years ago.

    Monday's Shave

    SOTD 092809 [640x480].jpg

    Razor: Edwin Jagger Chatsworth
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (Shave #4)
    Cream: Proraso green
    Brush: Vulfix 2234 Super Badger
A/S: Ogallala Bay Rum, Limes, & Peppercorns

I tend to think of Proraso as a warm weather cream, but it’s great anytime!

    Razor: Merkur Futur on 1.5
    Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge
    Brush: Shavemac
    Pre-Shave: Kell's Original Unscented Pre-shave
    Soap: Tabac
    A/S: TOBS Mr. Taylor

Today I went with the adage that less is more and dialed my Futur down to 1.5. The Futur delivered an irritation free BBS shave and the Mr. Taylor was a fine finish.

Sentiment, which I once thought was among the worst fragrances I've ever owned, has really grown on me. It's on the weak side, which is fine, as it'd otherwise give the impression of being a woman's perfume.

    Monday Morning:

    Hot Shower/Hot Towel
    Type L Schick Injector
NOS Injector Blade (USA) (Shave #1)
    Kent/Altesse Pure Badger
    Proraso Red SC
    NOS Shulton Old Spice A/S
    TSD AS Milk

I wanted to go with something that performed well but was still fairly gentle on my face (still had some irriation left over from Saturday) so I pulled out my trusty Injector this morning and all was well with world. Great results all around from everything. The Proraso Red lathered beautifully and provided great cushion. I used two NOS products today (NOS = New Old Stock.) The MADE IN THE USA Injector blade did a tremendous job and the classic Shulton formula Old Spice was a terrific finish although it burned like the fires of Hell after application. They must have used more alcohol in the old formula because the newer stuff never burned like that. Or perhaps it was the menthol from the Proraso that didn't mix well with the OS. Either way, the burning subsided with a little help from my TSD aftershave milk and I was good to go.
