Hello, I found this shaving set, wich contains a Gillette razor. I couldn't help it and took it, but I´m not sure of what it exactly is. Looks like a Fat Boy to me, but... I can´t wait for it to get home!
I knew about the tubes. In fact it's suposed to have them both inside!. I really can't wait for it to arrive. I hope the handle doesn't look good at all, because I don'f feel like getting in the restoration thing.
What is a red dot? I don't know too much about fat boys as you can see. Anyway I will post pics when I get it.
The red dot is a prototype fatboy. Instead of a red (or sometimes black) spring as the adjustment indicator, it simply had a painted red dot. There is still a spring under the knob that provides the click, but it is not visible as in the final (usual) production model. The red dot was made in 1958, maybe only the first quarter, so it should have a D1 date code. The Mr. Razor site is a great place to see fine examples of adjustables.
I use a Fatboy everyday. Well except for this week. Since it is 3 piece week. They are very nice razors.
Well, in fact it was a regular fatboy, not red dot. But it is in excellent condition. It comes with a nice old brush and some soap stick. I don't know what to do with them. I will post some pics to see if it's worth to restore the brush. Oh, and the leather case is really cool!
Youre lucky that members here cant understand the video that you posted replying goatshaver comment... Anyway,Fatboys are great razors and Im sad that I would have to sell mine before I leave to USA...Hope to find another one there when I settle down.
