DE blade holder as a cutting instrument

I'm in a profession where I use several different tipes of razor blades and holders for them.

With a stash of DE blades that I find inferior, and will not use for shaving, I found their thinness to be of benefit in some cutting situations. Right now I have taken to wrapping tape around the blade to the point that it looks like some prison weapon, in order to be able to handle it safely.

So I wonder if any shave denners have come across some kind of holder that protects 3 corners of the DE blade, while leaving one completely exposed, similar to a box cutter but for the DE blade.

I have rigged something like this before. I don't recall if either of these worked for long, but I recall building both of these years ago to complete some projects.

rig #1) Take a small section of PVC pipe (1/2, 3/4/ 1" would work). Cut a slit in the end of the pipe long enough that there is about 1/2 inch extra. Drill a hole in the end of the pipe so that a bolt and wingnut can be used to tighten the slit and lock the blade in place.

rig #2) take two blocks of 1X2. sandwich the blade between them and bolt/screw them together tightly.

should have known that something like this already existed. The blades have been around for over 100 years (if you include the older, thicker, three hole original blades)

I'm surprised no one else thought of that. What a great idea. Bravo PeterS

I think in prison the just melt them
into the handle of a toothbrush. Makes
    a lovely shank.

I had heard of the shavette style straight, and did think of that... That leads to question how one snaps the blades in half safely.
